it does sound weird!
Usually it's the Amp that fries the speakers.
Are you amplifying a known clean source such as satellite radio as opposition to bootlegged mp3 over Aux input....
Play with the balance and fade controls. If noise is piped everywhere it's the source and if it stays local it's a channel output (SPK/AMP).

Try not crank up the sound level too high for too long to avoid cooling issues.

mine started cutting on when it was a very hot day and I was blasting music and every since then I can’t play the music too loud with strong bass or it’ll cut out. It’s very annoying. I have a 14 model E63 with the B&O. I’m not sure which AMP to replace. Is it the one in the trunk?

That is good news because your amp only needs "regreasing", it's not fried 👍Originally Posted by momo a

You can easily upgrade the cheapo factory thermal grease that has run down vertically in the main amp. The woofer amplifier is horizontal so thermal paste stays put.
Use good "CPU thermal paste" :
"artic silver" top notch thermal compound
Thanks for the info, I’m going to be sending you a quick pm!

two chips bridged into a single channel: white thermal silicone
This module is horizontal, main amp is mounted vertically... oily sauce runs down under heat.
