Oil pump solenoids
I have my car in and hooked everything back up because I was making a claim for a broken passenger seat and didn't want to have any issues with the vehicle service contract (i.e., warranty) company. I change my oil and filter every 5000 miles, and changed it about 400 miles ago, so I'm not concerned with dirty oil.
(SIDE NOTE: This claim has become a headache, if not a nightmare. The warranty company at first denied the claim because I put winter tires on the car, as specified in the Operator's Manual. They said I had "modified the car" and had not purchased the tire size rider, therefore they were invalidating the contract. Then they said there were mixed sizes, which there were not, after I directed them to page 596 of the Operator's Manual which specified the exact size I had under Winter Tires. Just a lazy and/or careless inspector got it wrong in his report. After they scraped me off the ceiling, I asked what the hell tire sized had to do with a broken seat motor. They said the wrong tire size invalidated the whole contract. I asked them if they had ever heard of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. I then told them to send their inspector to the dealership again to check tire sizes, and this time not to forget his effing glasses! I also mentioned something about the Consumer Affairs Division in my state's Attorney General's Office. The reneged on the tire issue and are just being dicks to the dealership fixing my car. Once this episode is over, I'm pondering canceling the contract and getting a pro-rated refund, but I'm not sure I want to let them off that easily.)

These modules are reliable fully soldered but feature "painted GND" at the nearby chair beam behind front seats. <<< that step is going to be last

That is the thing about dealing with many of the stereotypical MB owners. By and large, we have higher standards, have high standards of others (including companies)...and in general a bit of disposable income to harass them with if they do not abide by simple things.....
I have a story about a MB Dealership crashing our GLS580 when it had 2000 mi on it....and trying to hide it.....Well, then there was the service manager who ran from the cops in my 3000GT VR4.....(years ago).....

Apparently plugging in a second/spare solenoid that is not functional eliminates the ghost code.

Meanwhile my E63S sits dormant. I got my refund check from scaling back the insurance for the winter, so that's something...
J/K. Peter, Kevin, and others explained, the operational solenoid (i.e., the one controlling the oil pressure) is inside the pan. What I am showing is a second real (but cheap Chinese knockoff) solenoid being used as a decoy and connected to the wiring harness to keep the ecu from throwing P06DA00 code.

Nah...they'd never do that!

I then plug this in to test the solenoid with 12V before using it. You definitely hear and feel the click.
