Just packaged up my oil for Blackstone. Changed the oil yesterday. A shade over 5,000 miles on Molygen 5W-40 (I did have to add 1L during). About 104k on car.

I didn't drive it very far because during this service I realized the insides of my rear tires are beyond spent (whoops). But I did drive it a bit and it feels like the unplugging mod is doing more for me. It's back to that responsive throttle off the line. We'll see what Blackstone says. I will post.

I know my engine is different, NA M276, but am vey happy with Molygen so far. Oil Analysis results are very good, despite dealer tech wanting to blame their misdiagnosis of my startup rattle on my oil.

Run from dealer service departments, their tech are well dressed shade tree hacks, and SA are used car salesmen. Master lead tech, get to this level only because they can screw more people in one day then the rest of the shop.

But I'm not bitter...

Rick, you crack me up! Thank you for explaining confirming that.

The doctors, the dentists, the lawyers, the bankers... all use their own excellent merry-go-round extraction like car dealerships.

The frustration comes from paying top bucks for no results. A fair solution is to go meet your local specialist that earns your trust for HALF THE PRICE.

ECU sprays more rewards

Kev, thank you for sharing your findings - - I am so glad your setup delivers noticeable relief for aggravating lag... messed up fuel timings. Good oil is all it took to get in MOD-2.0.

The 1L I think was vaporized in intake more so than wet cylinders.
I see a bit use of oil on Highway. Better than half of before. Since I got to half the dipstick range, level stopped going lower

Hang in there, the improvements are handed out in small chunks. Your ECU is responding to the engine changes, tranny should follow to learn "off-the-line" behavior on 1-2-3.

> "C/E mode" Selection:
-- I definitely prefer driving City in "S option": for engine RPM in low gears. Pretty predictable shifts around 3k.RPM mark with MOD2.1.

-- and Highway course in E for suspensions.

Let us know if your Molygen 5w40 oil analysis shows significant metals. I am confident it will be all good else your ECU would not be in the mood to spray more fuel.
What color was your Moly at 5kMi change??

Your engine is burning more efficiently - - Good for you.
This is 100% due to predictable cam timings letting the ECU trust smooth maps.
Regulated temps = predictable performance.
Much cooler regulated temps
More viscosity allows more of all the above from ECU.

Oh don't get me started on doctors. The US, UK, and a couple other western crony capitalist countries require a colonoscopy for no other reason than, it's a big money maker, all other developed nations instead require symptoms, then do more effective blood tests, and a colonoscopy is not really used as it's not very conclusive or effective in diagnosing.

Yep Cali, you nailed it, like politicians and mobsters, greed is king.

I'm just a regular guy who you can share a beer with, or the good stuff that comes in a jar, shoot some pool, pick and grin a tune or two, or lie about all the women we've had...Ain't asking for perfect, just honesty when I pay you.

Actually, I've had polyps removed during my three colonoscopies over the years. My DNA tests shows I have an increase likelihood of developing colon cancer. So, no, I don't want to wait until symptoms show. That's bad and misguided advice.

Today I ordered at Aliexpress a Oil pump solenoid and I will do like many here, I will plug in the solenoid to avoid any codes. That would be 100% clean mod in my eyes. Thank you so much for these advises. 🙏🏻

I’ve spent a few days combing through this thread and decided this is my preferred route! Not worried about the stored fault but can anyone confirm if a CEL appears?

It appears that a CEL/MIL is triggered only on certain engines and models -- specific ones are in the thread. I think the S63 is one such car.

New videos of my oil pressure readings on my C350 M276 NA engine with the solenoid disconnected and using Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40 oil. The oil pressure is measured according to the WIS using the test port on the oil filter housing.

This one shows that at startup, oil pressure was immediate and settled at ~2 bar at idle and then jumped to a little over 4 bar with a little gas. Sorry for the bad focus, unless you enjoy looking at water droplets on the windshield.

This one shows again the oil pressure at 3500+ rpm and idle.

This last one is just of the sound of my HPFP at idle since changing to 5W-40. Sound is alway amplified by the video recording, but to my old ears it sounds nice a quiet.

s63 and I believe a gls63 or gle63 also had a CEL... no m157; I see you have an e400

Thank you JR, your engine heads idling do sound quieter and evenly smooth. You got to know how clunky MOD-0 stock sounds to appreciate the transformation.

You measured 35Psi pressure at idle on warm engine with "Pen. Plat. Euro 5w40" right?
The specs of this premium oil are on top list. Let's see how its viscosity ages over hot summer Miles.

Already this is keeping your engine temperature under control without any extreme heatsoaks. Just the piston spraying is priceless!

Keep driving that smoother engine until your ECU decides to super-quiet the tickings with rich kickass GDI timings. Then you'll really smile with the 900.RPM torque.

++++ GDI Timings...
What's involved with getting ECU to switch over to better injection timings:
-- cleaned lambda
-- sealed piston rings
-- balanced cylinders contribution
-- steady chain tensioners
-- captured timings of HPFP prop valve

Overall this simply translates as:
+ reliable oil viscosity
+ ECU time to adapt its various mapped data
+ engine in a viable condition.

Give it the right setup and enjoy the ride... rewards will trickle in courtesy of ECU.

For those wanting to measure their own oil pressure, here are some pics. The plug is 12mm and the hex hole is 6mm. My hex wrench actually went under that metal hard pipe.

This is the kit I used.

I haven't read all 1,670 posts, but am impressed with the great support from the M276 enthusiasts. It's a great engine, a rare occurrence for MB in the past 15 years. The M276 is capable of well over 100k miles. I haven't yet seen a report of a 200k mile M276.

I have 127,000 miles on my 2014 C350 M276 NA. Far less miles get put on nowadays, but I would expect it to go for another 100+K. I have over 250,000 on my 2004 Audi TTQ 225. Oil and filter changes every 5,000 miles. though I have started to do changes every 3,000 miles now.

I assume you meant M278 and M157. There have been a few listed for sale but whether the engines are untouched isn't always clear.
