Pulling out the engine

I’m dropping my motor out of the car next week for maintenance and motor mounts. Is there anything I should replace while it’s out? Already doing turbo coolant lines but what else should I change while it’s out. 2014 e63s.

MAINTENANCE PIT STOP

In addition to Peter's entries :
  1. rear main seal
  2. engine main radiator + hoses
  3. (pull experimental plugs: MOD + ALT)
  4. New Con.rod bearings
  5. oil pump pickup seals
  6. Seal of oil filter block
  7. water/oil seals of timing chains cover
  8. oil heat exchanger
  9. Conti. serpentine kit
  10. Plastic coolant tanks + caps
  11. new wastegates??
  12. chain tensioners 2Pcs or 4Pcs
  13. 2x intake VVT gears
  14. Vacuum pump (2x) check valve
  15. plugs + COPs + borescope cyl.
  16. RTV all connector seals
  17. HPFP + Rollers.
  18. Inspect oily-harness conectors
  19. (your call... keep injectors: ok)
  20. plastic bypass valve in oil filter cap
  21. HEATERCORE ELBOW pipe at FIREWALL!
  22. (CKP + Temp sensor?)
  23. engine starter brush kit (shot?)
  24. ALTternator OE brush kit regulator
  25. inspect intake flaps
  26. clean MAP/MAF sensors
  27. inspect intake valves carbon

-- Strangely enough all of these parts are sensitive to extreme heat. Normalizing heat likely beneficial.
Most important is performance + reliability.

MB are very predictable. We just need to stay ahead with maintenance, not repairs.

Each entry is one known headache less down the road.


The above maintenance list does not address high crankcase blow-by pressure from piston rings. Seal is the main ECU concerns for predictible timings.

Anyone know what size the turbo coolant lines are was gonna replace them with braided nylon hose.
I think it’s 3/8 which is the same as -6 hose if I’m not mistaken but just want to clarify
