Vibration at 80mph

All 4 tires are around 80% new with road force balance. When I go over 80mph, I feel the vibration and the faster I go the more I feel. The car is 50k miles, I checked the control arms bushings and ball joints, they all look solid to me. The ball joints are not expensive but the labor is. I tried to search for videos for W218 ball join and/or controll arm replacement but didn't find anything. Has anyone done trhis? Or a procedusre I can follow? While they are there, should I replace the front lower control arms? They are kinda expensive.
Sometime it has some squeaky noise when turnng during the cold days. Thanks.

This wheel vibration is a bit aggravating for wet roads handling. You can replace every suspension parts, wheels + alignment and still have the same vibration.

Front control arms are great parts to keep new but before the No1 should the sway bar LINKS. Both front + rear. They are responsible for making the chassis very bouncy side to side and front to rear similar to bouncy shocks.

If you travel on bad pavement regularly then replace the front sway bar itself ($150) to have new tinny bushings.

Thank you. Yes, i did replace the sway bar end links 3 years ago. I feel The vibration on the steering wheel only, not the whole car, that makes mẹ mẹ think the problem is in the front.

Maybe I can try to replace the front sway bar. Is this something can be done at home? I remember I was unable to do it for my old 2007 E63 because the whole subframe must be removed first.

Double check everything and keep swaybar as last option:
  • Wheel bearings
  • Tie-rods
  • Arms
  • ball joints

I've measured my front swaybar to be a 25mm... many nice standalone bushings available - Normally intended as single maintenance item.

wheel bearings were replaced a few years ago. recently checked, there were some play on 1 side and alredy been corrected. Never thought that the tie-rod could be the problem. I will double check. Thank you số much.

Thank you so much.
You're welcome!

Suspension issues can be caused by many-many things....
Use the process of elimination: one item after another, "every suspension part must go" - Luckily there are not so many. Every new part will bring your front end back towards factory tight.

Have a look at "car parts dot com" for spare components. There may be greater options

are wheels TRUE?

Does not take much for them to bend a few tenths.
When were they balances? yesterday or last year or ?

this.

re balance, and re assess the balance of the wheels without the tires - properly inspect them.

not all road forced balance is the same - different places do a better job. Have seen countless of these "steering vibration" threads on Mbworld over 15+ years and MOST end with "rebalanced again and problem solved" or something to do with the wheels themselves

i will rebalanced tires at least once after the initial purchase of them when they are new - often at 20-30% use, which is why I like discount tire and their free re balancing

You mention a squeak when turning side to side in the cold. Id find that noise as it's indicative of no grease and a likely bit of play in that joint. Mercedes joints are not hard per-se but you need the correct tools that fit in the hub area.
