Panny turbos are dying right now, the price point is just too high and this was the same issue with the last gen.... its not a 911 GT car or that variant yet average turbo prices are high 160-170's with the hybrid bumping up over 200k easily. Its a rich mans sedan no doubt but the performance and interiors just dont exceed the cost associated with it. I truly hope the GT (AMG) car doesnt follow suit here in the US.

That would put the ED1 $15k-$20k over the E63s ED1.
Pricey but nowhere above the Panamera Turbo
The article says it is priced above an s63 and the AMG-GTR n germany. Also a fully loaded / edition 1ish wagon was €150,000 euro and they are saying €185,342 so VAT or not, that is a 22% premium over the wagon

I have seen crazy things like $150k for the S550 Coupe launch edition. I'd take a AMG GTR base model for $157k instead

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The Panamera Turbo S is a more sophisticated car. It is an e-hybrid using a similar power train to the Porsche 918 supercar. It also has a very sophisticated DCT gearbox.
The GT63S has the E63S powertrain with it's (by comparison) slower less sophisticated gearbox and ICE only turbo engine. The E63S has an amazing powertrain for a $120,000 car but not for a $200,000 car.

Came up to 220k Euro, about $256k, since usually our prices equal German (same number, different currency) I think it will exceed $200k threshold easily and that would make the car as overpriced as the Panamera TS.
Making it much more expensive then S63 kills it for me and I will look for something else, M8 or wait for the new Audi, RS7 or new S8.
I love the E63 but making about 20k miles/year on Chicago horrible roads would beat me too much.
The AMG GT 63 S starts at 167016,50 €
The AMG GT 63 S is 36,09% more expensive than the E 63 S
The E 63 S starts at USD 104.400 in the US..
If we add 36,09% to 104400 the result is 142077,96
In Germany the GT 63 S is 10000 € cheaper than the S 63..

Based on that, my educated speculation says:
AMG GT63S 4-door Edition 1 will retail for $182,060
The GT63S will be $164,036
And the GT63 will be $146,750
And there are more options you can put on an Edition 1 in Germany which will probably just be included in the US Edition 1 with the price increased accordingly. A maxed out Edition 1 with all options on the German site, minus VAT and converted would be well over $200k.

The US price was virtually the same with US $135,000 (sans $995 delivery). No speculation, just a simple side by side price comparo... This was the same on our prior S-Class and SL configs...

At average over $200k it sits at dealers and is not moving, GT63S at like prices will be sales proof also.
