Yeah all these states have weird rules. Georgia has some really weird leasing rules.

Try 5% in car tax.

we are 6.35% in CT and 7.75% if the vehicle is over 50k for registration for sales tax. If it is a CT (local) dealership they will not allow you to pay sales tax upfront (some sort of rule). Additionally, each town/city also has an excise use tax where you get a tax bill every year based on a mill rate for just owning your vehicle. The cost of ownership when you purchase high end vehicles here is highway robbery with the additional taxes the state imposes. I lease everything to get the write offs and maximize savings.

Mine is pretty much fully loaded, except for not having Magno paint. Our sales tax is 9.75% I believe, but your right now that I think about it. The $14500 had to include the registration fee since I bought it out of state. The check was still the same though!

Oh ok, yeah that makes sense. My build's MSRP is coming out to $134,450 pre-discount. Dealer is providing a discount of $8,666 for a purchase price of $125,784. CA sales tax is $9800 and CA registration is $1350, so $11,150 in tax+registration. Ouch.

And then you have to add in if you’re going to truck it. I think — as discussed in other threads — that if you buy it and drive it back you pay the tax of the state you bought the car in. However, you probably get hit again I would think when you come back to Cali to register it here.

Right. According to the dealer there will be a temp registration fee of $600 that I will have to pay if I drive it off the lot.

Regardless a discount is a discount so you did well. If you happen to be a AMG Private Lounge Member there is a $500 certificate towards the purchase or lease of any new MBZ in calendar year 2018. So that certificate could defray most of that $600 registration cost.

Awesome I'll look into that you might have just saved me 500 bucks!

I looked around on AMG Private lounge, couldn't seem to find it. Any idea where the link or code is?

You, sir, are my hero.

Oddly the language reports that you have to wait 30 days AFTER applying for the coupon, which clearly this thread indicates will happen. So, MBUSA, your marketing delay has already cost you 500 dollars. Was it worth it?

Wow thanks for sharing the coupon. I am not an AMG Private Lounge member so can’t access it without a VIN number. If my car is scheduled for a December build would there be any way my dealer would have the VIN before then?

This certificate thing is amazing... It's so circular since you gain membership through a VIN from the car I'm going to use the certificate on.

You might be SOL since you have to use the certificate before December 31, 2018 unless you and you dealer consumate the transaction before the car reaches the US. Not sure if that’s possible but worth a try.

Hey guys,

Do you know if this only applies to the US? The coupon I mean?

I am a private lounge member, but when I l click the link it takes me to a page saying "This document has been removed"

Does anyone else have this error?

Yes only to the US.

I was at the Petit Lemans Road Atlanta this weekend and stopped by the AMG facility. I have an E53 ordered and they had 6 of them there so they are around. The MBUSA rep stayed with the company line and said sometime this year but he did give me a coupon/note for stopping by that will get me $500 additional of my already agreed upon price that MBUSA pays.

Oh dayummmm. You know, maybe they are waiting for all of the 43s/53s/63s/65s to get certified before the begin the roll out of the models. Would explain why the SL63, S63 and S65s (not to mention the GLC43s and GLC63s) have all received their certifications but have yet to be released.

With all the GT variants certified now, just waiting on our E63...

Let’s hope it’s this week or next and somehow MBUSA decides to release our cars in November...which is what has been kindly implied on these boards for a while now...
