AMG Advanced Lighting Package?

Hey guys, Anyone here not go with the AMG Advanced Lighting Package on their car? How different does it look from the standard e63 front headlights, I feel like I made a mistake not getting this option and now I really regret it. Cannot change it since the build is locked in.

I think your ok.. its $800 for LED highbeams.. how often are your highbeams on? Adaptive highbeams are take it or leave it for me (I can turn my own highbeams on and off) and curve illumination isnt huge since it has LED's standard and the highbeams work well regardless.. maybe if you live in more rural areas without street lights..

It isnt a bad option by any stretch, but I wouldnt be upset if I got one without it...

I do like them, but at the same time feel somewhat ripped off as the adaptive features of the system have been brain damaged in the US due to an old US law.

Seems like one extra switch position would have been a simple fix. Low beam, high beam, check, law satisfied, one more position, adaptive high beam on.

I leave mine in the high beam position all the time. The car does a very good job of automagically dimming the high beams. What it doesn't do, like the cars in other markets can, is to leave the high beams on in the other areas around the oncoming car or to dim the light in the direction of highly reflective street signs.

Hopefully at some point they'll fix the law and the feature can be software enabled by Mercedes. Alternatively, maybe someone will come up with a module to fool the car into thinking the headlights are in Europe . . .

My car came with it. The auto high beams work really fast and well. The high beam really light up the road. I agree it depends where you use the car in urban areas probably not work the cost but in suburban areas with two lane roads it is nice.

I have it on my GLS 550 but its on auto and I have never seen them in action lol. I though the LED headlights would look the same but just found out that they are not the same and that the LED day time running lights wont be on the E63 if I do not have the option. I have tried to find pictures online with a car that does not have the options but almost all of them have it.

The US spec doesn't have the blue accents on headlights as European spec has.

My car has advanced lights but doesn't do that:

After unlocking the doors, white daylight just smoothly turns on without the blue.

I think the lights in the USA does some kind of dance but no colors.

That's correct they are doing "dance" but not colors.

I was referencing the blue line that comes with the advanced lighting package. I can't find any pictures of it, but if any of you guys look closely at your headlights (with the package), you'll see a blue line.

It's there, you're right but looks like has been disabled as part of technology it's prohibited in the US. https://mbworld.org/forums/w213-amg/...effective.html

Watch the video I've posted above and my car which one has Advanced Light Packed doesn't welcome me with blue accents in headlamps also it does not make "glare-free" effect as noticed in the related thread I gave you link before.

Nope. The law precludes the adaptive position:
Except as provided in S5.5.8, the lower and upper beams shall not be energized simultaneously except momentarily for temporary signalling purposes or during switching between beams.
Only brain-dead is allowed because the law only allows separate high and low output with no blending.

Ya, seems kinda steep for just led high beams, I have it, but don't even use the high beams that much. For 40 dollars i bought some led bulbs for my chevy pickup truck and they illuminate the road better than my 2018 E63 AMG with the lighting package, lol. I'd think you could just add LED lights to the benz too pretty sure.

On the E63 brochure you get a weird picture angle of the car with out the options, the LED strip looks a bit off compared to the one on the option. I was curious if its the same LED day time light or are they different. My dealer has no idea since no one has ordered the car with out the option lol.

Anyone that says they are not worth the extra - either never drives at night or have not tried them.

Mine are permanently on high beam. The car does an awesome job of dimming and I have never been flashed by another car. When behind a car it refocusses the beams so the the car ahead is in a sort of black box (still very visible) and the rest of the road is fully lit up. The lights constantly change focus and aim depending on other traffic, speed, & location (eg will aim further out on motorways / higher speeds) - they are linked to GPS so know when you are approaching intersections etc and adjust accordingly.

I like mine so much that I go out for a drive at night to see them work (worth the bugs). I had ILS on my 2012 SLK (turning, auto dimming etc.) but what I have now, are just unbelievable.

Never drive a car with the current ILS and you will not know the difference

If you believe that then you either do not have ILS or they are faulty.

Thanks for the feedback. Helpful to hear confirmed what we are missing here in the US.

The question for some in the US is why spend the extra money when the adaptive feature is disabled anyway? I think a lot of people are in the same boat as me and didn't know when they ordered the advanced system that the features are disabled in the US - Mercedes doesn't note this fact in the DOG.

Had I known, I'm not sure which way I'd have gone. If there was some hope that the US will modify their law and that it was a simple software update to enable the feature, I'm sure I'd have gone for it. But if I were leasing my car and knowing it was going to be turned over in a few years, and knowing the glacial pace of law change in the US, I'd probably save the money.

Tough call . . .

Mercedes complies with ancient US regulations and provides the hardware without the functionality.

All modern intelligent lighting systems really have no low beam. It's a camera controlling the high beams that dynamically map out objects out of the light beam or enhancing the light to certain objects (street signs, etc.). Without cameras in the windshield controlling the light beam = no intelligent lighting.
Adaptive high beams are not the same...

And the same cameras work with ABC giving a smoother ride. It is a surprise for me (as person the lived in Africa for 45 years) to find that the USA is not always in front. Pity, because USA owners are missing out on awesome gear. It is quite amazing to drive at night and observe the light-beams continually adjusting to the speed, road andconditiions. In the beginning I was a danger on the road because I was watching my lights and not the road.
