E43 AMG spare wheel/jack
Hello. I recently changed my tires from run flats to all season non run flat for a smoother ride. I want to buy a spare wheel https://www.buymercedespartsnow.com/...are-2134000600) to put it in my trunk. I have 20" wheels and the spare only comes in 19". I was told by a local mechanic that worked on some amg cars that the spare wheel is only for the rear. That it won't fit in the front or when it fits it will do some damage he said. Is that correct or he is mistaken, because it doesn't seem right to me that they would only make a spare for the rear.
Also another question is for the jack. I would like to buy oem Mercedes benz jack. This one is specifically for my car: https://www.buymercedespartsnow.com/...kit-6685079128
Can I buy this one instead?: https://www.buymercedespartsnow.com/...kit-1665806900 This one is for the S class and other vehicles. It's cheaper and comes with the wheel guide pin. I don't see why it wouldn't work on my car. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I would first check your trunk to see if you even have space foe the tire. On my E63s wagon their is absolutely no space for a donut. I did purchase an OEM jack that does fit nicely. A lot of floor jacks won’t even go under the car as it sits quite low.

Artex,
The E43 has a wheel change kit available from MB includes jack, jack wrench, lug nut rench, wheel locating pin.
This is an option so you have to buy it extra.
I have just bought the skinny spare and bag :-
A2134000600 Compact Spare Wheel
A0005850100 Bag
This wheel is not an option for the E43
However it is on the E400D which has 20" rims and similar power.
I can confirm this wheel fits fine on the E43 both front and back.
In addition the E400D is a 4matic so if there is any differential activity it should be Ok for short term use, as you are fitting a 19" to a 20" rim car.
MBoemparts.com also list this skinny wheel as fitting the new E53 and E63
https://www.mboemparts.com/oem-parts...are-2134000600
Its not cheap cost £314 and I had to order it from Germany.
Cheers Vin

Hi Joey,
I got the toolkit Ok from Merc, so that's a :- wheel pin, jack and jack wrench all are listed as available for the E43, but do not come with it as standard £200
Then it gets tricky, I ordered the following from Merc had to come from Germany :-
A2134000600 Compact Spare Wheel £400 i think
A0005850100 Bag £150, you do need the bag as this secures it in the boot.
I have checked the wheel on both front and back, like I said it is from the E400D with 20"-inch rims and it clears both sets of brake calipers.
As I said before the E400D is also a formatic so short term use must have been invisaged for the US market.
The only problem with going this route is you probably need to inform you insurance as its not listed as being an option. If you were to crash on it without informing them it could invalidate yourinsurance.
I can assure you the roads in the East havent had money spent on them for decades hence the need for a spare!
Cheers Vin

Thanks for the link
I have a E63S but it states it covers all E class models.
This one looks to be of great quality.

Was your tire a complete blowout? They are run-flats so you can still drive on them with a flat, unless the sidewall has been compromised.

It was a blowout, inside sidewall, and it came with a cracked rim and another $1100 for a replacement, in addition to the 4 New tires. Continental Extreme Contact DWS6

Not yet, it's on my Amazon wishlist to order soon. I did ask the seller about it matching the staggered 20's setup and they said yes. They did confirm it will not fit in the boot compartment, too big, do I'm getting the version with the bag.
I'll check back when I do get it though.

Wow. Had my driver front tire blow out after hitting a pothole. The runflat held up long enough to get to a gas station in the midst of a snow storm thank God. But had to wait 4.5 hours for MB roadside tow truck. I do not wish this upon anyone. In this modern day and age, the runflat with no spare is true regression. I need to buy this modern spare kit. Anyone purchase it yet can confirm it's ok for the E53 sedan? BTW, the slime kit did not work at all for me. Last time I buy that.

Twice I've hit a pothole on the front passenger wheel and both times, it blew out the sidewall. The last one happened with the family in the car, at almost midnight, 4 miles from home. I just drove home SLOWLY knowing well the tire was destroyed. That 4 mile drive with zero pressure brought almost new tires down to the metal wires in the threads.
Very interested to hear if anyone has tried this slim spare kit.

Do runflats react differently to potholes when compared to nonrunflats? I know the sidewalls are more rigid but does that mean that they tear instead of bubble? I would prefer a bubble than a complete blowout.
