2023 e63s wagon

Amen. If they had made fewer of them, loaded those cars up with CCBs, HUDs, multibeam, contour sets etc and painted them any other color I would've bought one gladly. I looked for a non-FE car at every dealer in the country, struck out and started to consider the FE as a last act of desperation. There were many to be had at MSRP but I just couldn't pay that much of a premium for a car that has no premium in it.

The only way to explain the Final Editions is either Mercedes market research knows nothing about their customers or openly despises them (or both). Just imagine all the happy customers they could have had if they had left those allocations open so people could have ordered the cars they actually wanted. Satin black paint, $5 worth of printshop graphics and zero options for $55K....even if they marked it down to the 127K that it's actually worth, who wants to spend that kind of money on a stripper?

"the powertrain technology is changing".
I still don't know anyone who's had an EV that was willing to buy a second one or even liked the one they had. I do know a bunch of former EV owners though. Personally I would never consider owning one in any form, including a hybrid. It's a lot of unnecessary complication, expense and weight for no tangible gain and the batteries In that nonsense are a fire hazard I'm not willing to risk all my other cars or my house on. I also don't like being manipulated into buying something being peddled by the clowns in government. For me as a buyer, the whole EV/hybrid boondoggle is a bust.

If a person is a brand loyalist to MB, hybrid and BEV are in your future. If a person is brand agnostic, there will be combustion-only options for a while. My history has shown me to be brand agnostic, so I will be looking for luxury and performance with a combustion-only powertrain as long as possible. If it means I am a Lexus customer in the future, I can live with that.

I think you are onto something here but it's too late. Imagine if they would have ADVERSTISED it as a limited stripper version <cough black cough> gave it some extra BS horsepower from a little tune, remove some sound deadening and other crap shouting from the treetops it was 100KG lighter I bet it would have flown off the shelves. Man they really ****ed up lol. In fact they could have removed even more options and banked on the "track version" selling no problem.

Something happened last week as I'm now getting emails almost daily from Mercedes as if I've just taken delivery of my car. Dealer has no idea what's going on and still no news about my car ever being released from port after roughly 4 months now. I think it was my call to MBUSA customer service last week that started email chain. BYW, they were totally useless. That 800 number for customer service is a total waste of time.

that was an odd choice by MB to forgo the "options"...
For reference, the Edition 1s came loaded with everything except soft close door and there was something else (i think advanced ambient lighting). Hell even the sports seats had both ventilation and heat.
HUD - Check
Air Balance - Check
CCB* - Check
Rear heated seats - check
Rear Solar shade - Check
ambient lighting (64 color-no patterns) - Check
Panoroma Roof - Check
$10 pin stripe - Check
Magno Black paint - Check
Night package - Check
Dinamica Steering wheel w/yellow stitching - Check
CF interior bits - check
Heated and Ventilated Sport Seats - Check
Black interior w/yellow stitching - Check
B&O system (none 3d) - Check
* I can see why CCB was not included... it is a 8k "option" with a cost of 12k to replace rotors if the times comes for that.
so they went full on check box crazy with Ed1 but decided to be check box adverse with the Final Edition... how exceptionally odd that is and for the price being asked, there are other choice words that i will not use here.

Fantasy vs. reality. Customer service at many businesses is a call center reading from a set of scripts. I'm surprised that even you were unable to pierce the veil and get to someone who could facilitate your inquiry. It starts to come down to relationships and networking.

I just got back from Munich IAA (formerly Frankfurt). I am sorry to report, but you will not see a V8 in the E-Klass within their planning horizon which I was told at 7-8 years.
For me the most exciting car was the new VW GTI (which unfortunately will be an EV). And it looks humongous. All the new cars look futuristic. Most German manufacturers are pushing 3 large screens up front.
There were many many many Chinese car companies. All EVs…and I have never heard of any of them before.

I wish we got A-class in the US. Great looking car, and great size if you don't require lots of space. With age the more I appreciate efficiency and ease of driving.
I'll check out the new GTI as suggested.
Still negotiating for a very clean 2020 E450 wagon. Dealer seems motivated and have come way down in asking price so we're pretty close.
