Cost of 1st service is Ridiculous
I just had a service on my Full Size Range Rover at my local dealership, $400 for oil change and inspection.

It’s just $50 in oil and $20 for a filter, wiper fluid top off, and labor for not having to get under the car and do it myself.

That is crazy price.
Ow long did they have car back in service bay and working on it?
At that rate I hope all day and then into the next as said above parts for oil change around $70-$100 depending on brands.
So that leaves 790 for tax and labor and all those crazy shop fees, disposal fees, bend over fees....
I feel sorry for those who buy the the GLA & GLB thinking they got a cheap MB and then go get an oil change... I bet ambulance is on standby for all the heart attacks.
If you don’t like being hosed by the dealer the options are DIY or Indy.
even my parents new ‘98 Mercedes C class over 20 years ago I recall being a $700 service.
may I suggest a Kia for you?….. (kidding around)
It's a mechanical machine and the mechanic at a MB dealer is performing the same work and following the same documentation as Joe Smith's Auto Service in the same town.
A MB service department is not sprinkling fairy dust, waving wands around your car or using some super secret methods.
We are not driving The Large Hadron Collider particle accelerator, it's a car, lol.
There's no magic involved.
IMO, if you are overpaying at a dealer, it is by choice, not by necessity.
Just my .02.
I do suggest you find an indy, it really is just a car, 1 drain or 8 drain plugs, the person working should know.

There’s good and bad shops
and
There’s good and bad techs that can work at good and bad shops. The bad techs get weeded out eventually at the good shops but they still may touch my car before then…
and
theres mistakes made by good techs at good shops. We are all human,
I’m dealer faithful while in warranty. The relationships I build have helped me far in excess of the “premium” prices. And for most things it’s not THAT much more, if at all, to do it right with oem stuff at the dealer with the free loaner car, shuttle, coffee, food, and browsing cool cars.
Then when I NEED their help “engine won’t turn over” I’m golden, all boxes checked, it’s 100% their thing to solve.
I’ve had an Indy wreck an engine. Non diesel oil in a blutec 320. I can’t prove it but know it helped destroy our GL. I only dealer now.
