yeah, there's a thread on here bout it link here: https://mbworld.org/forums/w213-amg/...ml#post8571529

tire rack will tell you youre not supposed to, but I think its probably fine. In the photos side wall looks square and isn't folding which is what you'd normally worry about

what are you thinking about running?

The horses are now in the barn, 2019 E63s
Seems like I've read something on a thread here in the World about high performance tires designed to use "bead spread" to achieve it's specified performance.

The answer is really twofold; is there clearance within the wheel well and wheel offset for the 305 and does the OEM wheel provide enough spread for the tire?

Tires that stick out 2" - arch the leaf springs so they clear, add some yellow slapper bars and we are all set.

Summer rims on!
15mm spacers front
10mm spacers rear
Lowered 30mm/30mm
Going to try 35-40mm on the front and maybe a tad lower on the rear

sitting nicely , you have the cete module right? Have you figured out how to untie the profiles in the module to the suspension stiffness setting in the car? Like if I create a new profile it ties it to “sport” suspension setting. I wanted to set multiple lowering profiles with the same comfort suspension setting.

Yes Cete. Interesting thought. I only modify Profile 1, never tried adding another. My understanding is whatever the factory height setting is in C, S, S+ is the Profile 1 setting lowers all of them by the mm set in the app. I assumed a second Profile would just save time not scrolling the millimeters up and down and still impact all C, S, S+ heights. I'll play with it more and see.

I believe that is the case when you only have one profile set. The next profile you set gets tied to the sport mode , then sport plus, so for example I have my first profile (which is tied to comfort) set to only lower -10 all around, then when I switch to sport it lowers more, and sport plus even further..but Cete actually ties it to the suspension setting in the backend..so I can be in comfort mode but if I turn my suspension stiffness setting up a level, it goes to the next profile in Cete .. I was hoping It could be standalone profiles so I can have 3 different ride height settings under comfort suspension.

You are correct! I had it all wrong.

I couldn’t figure out how to create a new profile in the phone App. Then with the app still open I switched to Sport and the app automatically flipped to “Profile 2” - with its own Profile 2 settings! So I’ve only been actually lowering in comfort and parked. Lol.

I can’t do anything in the Ap for each profile other then change its lowering settings or rename it. So now I have profiles called Comfort, Sport, etc. and actually set those lowering now too. And the only way I can switch between profiles is to change modes in the car and the app follows.

So it seems to me one profile for each mode.

Although - you can set a “Show Mode”, try and see if it’s a separate Show Mode value for each profile. Maybe Possible?

Thanks for sharing. I would have never clued to the fact I actually needed to program the lowering amounts I wanted for the other profiles S and S+ etc.

Also, it's not necessarily tied to the car's sport/comfort/sport+ mode, but it's tied to the suspension mode. So if you stay in Comfort mode (turn the dial to comfort) and press the suspension button (one led comes on) it changes the Cete profile to sport, press suspension button again (second led comes on) it changes it to sport+ profile in Cete. I was really hoping I could have multiple lowering settings but with comfort suspension...

This is the instruction I received. I was also warned to not lower too much on comfort as the suspension is too soft that you could get rubbing with the current wheels I have.

Thank you for posting that! I had no idea where in the car the actual unit was installed and the pics really helped.

Today is the first time I drove with Sport and Sport+ (one shock light, two shock light) profiles set to lower -30mm each.

Problem!

In Sport I pulled a very aggressive U-turn and when the front end dipped this came on:
(yeah yeah I just swapped rims, will do the tire pressures tonight):

Ruh Roh!

I couldn't listen to the warning as I was chasing down a GO-Bus for my daughter to catch (we caught the bus!) and then I kept driving to the office trying to get that error off the screen. It would not leave no matter what I pressed "OK" "Enter" "Return" etc. etc.

The car was really pulling to the right on the highway (100 is only 80 more then 20 so I figured it would be ok) and then after a Starbucks drive-thru I thought I better park and check it out. At least turn the car on/off and see if that would clear it.

It did not.

OH well, I'll deal with it later. I started the car to go to the office and when I started reversing I heard loud tire rubbing inner fender on the front. People turned around to look. It was loud. Whoops. So I pulled back into the parking spot, turned the car off got out and walked around. The passenger front was SLAMMED lowrider. Busted airbag?! WTH.

I waited a minute for good luck, got in and started the car - still red error. I put the CETE settings to 0 for every profile. Waited 5 minutes with car running, flipping through profiles making sure they were all zero. Still slammed front right. Pushed up in the fender and not leveling out. Uh oh.

I did not have a wrench on me or I would have disconnected the batteries for a few minutes to see if anything would "reset". Finally after a few on/offs and desperately fiddling with the CETE and shock settings I gave up and pushed the Mercedes Me button and requested a tow. Drats.

I went into the Starbucks to wait, ordered a sandwich and ate it watching my car sitting there all droopy sad. There was a Home Depot across the street - do I go buy a wrench and do the battery trick before the tow truck comes? Do I ask the tow truck driver to help me with his wrench? I really really don't want to check into the dealer right before the weekend. I have plans. Ugh.

I finished my sandwich and walk back to the car. Half way there I NOTICE IT'S NOT LIMPING ANYMORE! Fender gaps all normal! Somehow it decided to level itself while I was in the Starbucks. WTF. I start it up, no error! Drive to the office, no error!

My theory is maybe -30 is too low for Sport combined with really cranking a U-Turn? So low that the suspension dipped and dropped below some threshold and the computers went nuts thinking something was bad?
Either that or the CETE is going bad?
Either that or something is actually wrong with the stock right front stuff?

<sigh> and I thought this was an "easy don't sweat the warranty" mod. Apparently not lol.

Hopefully a one time thing. I'm leaving all lowereing at "0" for a few days.

Wow. You should still have the front ends check out as you may not see the damage with the wheels on 😮

Excess lowering + spacers may not be a good combination, imo

I've seen that message and a more ominous one with a 20mm drop. I found that if I turn it off, wait a while, and start it back up the message is gone.

If you ever have time sit in the car for about 15 minutes after a trip with everything off including engine. One would think you stop, put it in park, and then get out and all is done. Oh contraire. It makes all sorts of noises and is still busy doing things for quite a while.

Thanks for chiming in. Now that I’ve been initiated to the 213 lowrider club I won’t have to panic next time it happens.

Like you said after 15 mins or so so guess it decided to fill the right front airbag again.

No damage, just a little rubbing outside tire on fender liner turning the wheel trying to leave the parking spot. A little spit and thumb rubbing, all is well.

It behaved for the rest of the day and to the lake. I just set it back to -30mm.

Wow that's kind of scary..haven't had the issue on mine and I have been switching between the 3 profiles all the time. Have you also noticed the rear end behave a little unstable? I haven't had the car long so it could have been stock behavior too but it reminds me of the mustang I had a while ago which had a solid rear axle, and when one rear tire hit a pothole or uneven surface the entire rear end would kind of wobble...I'm getting the same behavior in this car, which I thought has an independent suspension all around so it would feel much more stable when hitting bumps or uneven surfaces.

Hey IT I had that suspension error when I drove away on show mode and the system couldn’t keep up with the change as fast.

Simple solution is to turn the car off and have the key out of range, 2 meters, away from the car for the system to recalibrate when you see the heights go back to normal then the error clears.

I was told the refresh rates on the car levelling sensors are sensitive and can be offput with abrupt changes especially on lowered settings.

So I was told to keep show mode on then deliberately turn it off and watch for the heights to return to normal before driving.

My theory is the lowering module confuses stuff. So I set it to “0” turn car off it fixes.

I hope.

If it starts happening more I’m unplugging the module and clearing all codes, and see if it comes back.
