That a good price for OVS and RMS R&R. May I ask where you're located?
while it's one of the more "fair" dealer quotes, the best quote I've seen here is this $5864 and commensurate with what @Highline-Autos.com says what he sees the negotiated price of this repair across his board:
From the Carfax it looks like it was maintained pretty good........
However, at 35,500 miles it had a RMS done and quite a few other common issues were fixed as well. Nothing about the OVS replacement however. Seems like a pretty reasonable price for a 2 owner car. I love the white, but not a fan of the light interior.

price for this wagon seems unusually low for the miles -'how clean is a clean carfax these days? What am I missing?
edit: listed as a wagon, pics of a sedan. Yeah, poor color combo spec, prolly dealership manager responsible for this combo
shady used car lot name 😂 "Another Time Used Cars"

I dont know if there is anything wrong with it. All the places it was serviced at are legit here in AZ esp MB of Chandler. Seems it got all of its services.
I was just amused that a 2019 with 36k miles had an RMS replaced......exactly like mine.
51k seems reasonable. I bought mine for 64k with 36k miles a little over a year ago.

well - consider this used car added to the database!

2021E63S - Back to report that while my RMS is still dry as a bone, I found a leak from my front diff when I did an oil change in early Oct. The dealer got this squared away under my extended CPO warranty so I paid nothing. Pinion seal needed replacement. Estimated cost would have been close to 6k if out of pocket. Two front axles out, right side exhaust out, transfer case out etc etc.

Curious what other work people have done while this repair was going on (thermostat, oil cooler lines, engine mounts, etc.)? My car is in the shop now and I'd rather hit some of these items while the engine is already out.

Has the design changed for the latest part numbers for OVS and inlet/outlet pipes? Or is replacing these parts simply putting the same ball in motion again?

I do believe with the new part numbers, the design has changes as we do not see or hear about almost any '20+ having the RMS issue under or out of factory warranty coverage.

The new part numbers are an updated design that seems have fixed whatever was causing them to clog up.

I filed with and spoke to NHTSA. They recommended everyone who has had the issue to file with them and reference the following in the complaint
NHTSA ID Number: 11020807
Manufacturer Communication Number: LI01.40-P-079518
I bought my car in January 2025 w 28K no issues and it was inspected at MB. B service at 42K and RMS leaks. Been back and forth with the dealership and theyve reduced the labor, but its still $6500.
If we all organize and file w NHTSA.gov, we got a shot at eventually getting reimbursed.

So sorry this happened to you!! I hope thing go well with the repair. That's seems like a fair number but curious if that also covers replacing the OVS. The OVS, as you know, are the root cause of the problem.
And thanks for posting about the NHTSA. I spoke with a few attorneys that specializes in class action suits against automobile companies. One in particular, and another attorney, said they always check the NHTSA website for complaints first, then if there are enought they will review a case for acceptance. But at that time there wasn't a single NHTSA complaint lodged regarding MB RMS failure so he wouldn't even begin to look at the case. And I couldn't post a complaint because my car was and is fine. Thanks again for posting the link, I wish they differentiated safety problems versus defects better, it looks like you can only lodge a safety complaint on the site, unless they've fixed it since then.

The service bulletin was issued July 16, 2025 says to do the OVS replacement, then see ift he RMS continues to leak. If no leak send the car on its merry way. Just found this post today, but probably why they didn't do the RMS replacement on your car. How are things going since the repair??? https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...20807-0001.pdf

You are correct, they told me that was the factory guidance.
To this point (almost 2 months after the OVS replacement), I have no oil in the garage floor and no oil showing on the undercarriage. I plan to have the same shop do an oil change and check for the RMS leak in a few months, as long as I don't see any visible leaks before then. the noise is gone, and all is good! Continues to be an amazing vehicle that I love getting in and driving daily.
would TSB apply only if you are currently having RMS issue?
my experience was that they need to see an "active" leak to warrant replacing the RMS. the shop that replaced my oil-vapor separators cleaned it all up and took photos of the cleaned area. i'm going to have them inspect it again when go in for routine service, and if there is evidence of a leak since they replaced the OVS, then they should be able to get repair authorization to replace the RMS.
however, this particular TSB just appears to be related to excess oil consumption or the smell of burning oil or the visible traces of an oil leak.
"Customer complains of oil use, oil leaking or oil smell."

My buddy just had his '20 RMS leak. <40k and not original owner. Luckily he had purchased aftermarket warranty when buying the car. Looks like they're only replacing the RMS and not the OVS.

Not saying '20+ are invincible, but they do seem to be not as affected.

Yes, only if there's a leak from the RMS already. and it looks like only if there's an RMS leak so a calve cover leak isn't covered by this TSB. But if you aren't under warranty, you could pro actively have the OVSs replaced.
Update on my RMS seal. Replaced at 45K and now at 49K with no leak. I did just have the OVS units replaced under the Fidelity warranty and they covered around 95% of the cost minus my deductible. I now have all the new and updated parts on my car so it will be interesting to see if I spring another leak.
