Autonation Warranty affected by car crash?

Hey gus, lomg story short, I was rear ended about 20 days ago and or so and the insurance companies are slow to get cars fixed as you know. I was at no fault in the accident and the car drives perfectly fine luckily however it is still taking a while to get my car fixed. I bought my 2019 E63s on January 4th and I noticed that there was a weird smell when I would floor it and I chalked it up to just whatever grease they put on the engine plastics getting hot and burning off. Come to realize now that the car has the RMS issue that has plagued these things for so long. However, I bought it from autonation and it is an autonation certified car meaning it has the base 90 day 4,000 mile warranty on it. I am barely over 3,000 miles since I bought it and I was wondering if autonation typically covers the RMS issue which I do not see why it would not as on the paper it says it covers anything related to the engine and the gaskets and transmission and so on. Also, would it get denied for the warranty fix since the car was in an accident? My concern is that I will take it as is to the autonation center and they will blame the RMS issue as being from the accident which I know is not the case as I was rear ended at around 25 mph and also hit on my rear right passenger door which is no where near the engine.

Read the warranty contract. Be aware that the RMS leak is caused by the oil separator design. MB replaces the RMS and the separators using a new separator PN. If just the RMS is replaced the leak will likely come back. Autonation may limit the fix to just the RMS. Replacing the oil separators is pricey as there's a lot of labor involved.

I don't have the warranty contract. I was never given one but the car has on that window sticker where it says if it is sold as is or with a warranty, that it does have that basic warranty. I am more concerned on if they will cover it while the car is damaged from the back and rear passenger side from the accident even though it drives perfectly fine.

It shouldn't be a factor. That said, "should" isn't definitive. I think it would be difficult to blame a RMS leak on a side door impact. If you were rear ended it would be much easier for them to fight you on it. The only way to really know is take it in for them to look at it. Undoubtedly they'll do or have done an inspection and then you'll know.

Autonation owns my local Benz dealer - they have been good to me on warranty issues after accidents - also the Benz autonation will have the RMS bulletins well documented (in the sticky I have links to the actual Ptss case number you can show the service advisor)

That sounds reassuring. I am just more concerned since my bumper is missing and my rear door and quarter panel are damaged that they refuse to fix it. My closes autonation is about an hour away. I need to contact autonation and get the warranty contract.

I was rear ended but the impact was only 25mph as stated by the police and the EMT's at the scene. Unfortunately the person that hit me only ended up having $5,000 of collision so now I have to call my insurance and file a claim with them.
