Remember the days when we never had to worry about the next generation v8 E63 coming out? It was just presumed that it was gonna come out and it was gonna be faster and better looking and have more technology and all the things?

Hopefully the next V8 is only paired with a 100-200lb battery for an electric turbo and ISG, rather than a 800lb battery they've been favoring recently. Lugging and limping around all that weight for 50-60mi EV range with a electric weak motor isn't appealing for lots of reasons.

The company is also developing the engine to work with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that could incorporate a starter motor into the gearbox, while also adding some extra power and better efficiency.
Schiebe reinforced the idea that AMG won’t go all-in on hybridization with this engine. In his words, they don’t “necessarily need to go that far on hybridization”

I agree, and it seems that MB/AMG does as well! With a flat-plane it seems to be a high-revving engine with mild-hybrid for torque fill by electric turbo and/or ISG, which would be awesome:

agreed. BMW somehow made "doesn't sound good" profitable in their Latest M Line with just killing it in performance and injecting digital soundtracks into the cabin / I'm sure this Benz series will have the same.

"Certainly emotional behind the steering wheel, but it was a bit off putting when stepping out and it sounded nothing like this on the outside. Not necessarily anything wrong with that. It's made to be enjoyed by the driver and not annoy the bystanders."

as we move through our world, it's all artificial, artificial intelligence, artificial sounds, virtual experiences, so to speak to some degre. not a big deal really, but to some degree sitting in a high-powered vehicle is somewhat virtual as well. It is what it is.
