Are Carlsson 2/5 19" any good??

Anyone have experience with these or Carlsson in general? I can get a pretty good deal on these over a set of Lorinser LM5s. Save about 1,000 over the lorinser but are they cheaper for a reason??

You're paying extra for the "Lorinser" name. I would believe that both are of the same quality, but it's just that Lorinser is more known as a mercedes tuner than Carlsson.

Carlsson wheels are in the same class as Brabus originally. Tirerack used to be their North America sole distributor, it is because Tirerack is no longer carrying Carlsson products, they have to dump ALL of their stocks at whatever cost. Thats why you will see the 2/5s are so inexpensive now. Once all of Tirerack's stocks are gone, the wheels will be back to its original pricing structure.

Carlsson 2/5s are VERY nice wheels. Carlsson is definitely on top of Lorinser when comes to Mercedes tuning. Carlsson products are generally more expensive than Lorinser. When do you hear people say their Mercedes are tuned by Lorinser????

It may be that Carlsson is more expensive than Lorinser, I do not check prices but when speaking of Mercedes tuners with non mercedes owner's they're more familiar with Lorinser than they are with Carlsson. That's just my experience.

E55 Kev,

Dazz motorsport was appointed the official distributor. I called Carlsson in Germany to confirm them.

However, they do not sell to the public, and you would have to purchase them through D2 (dont hold me for it though)

Carlsson 2/5 are great wheels and look great on 19"
I've seen them in person installed on an E55 and they are just great, and lighter than stock AMG 18"s

Thanks for the feedback

I think i might go this route with SO3s and my kleemann suspension it should be pretty good.

I just dropped off the phone to get repaired at the local dealer and there was a C32 with Carlsson 1/6 19s dropped and it looked really sweet.

Kev, from what I was told, Carlsson will do it in a traditional way, i.e. appoint a few distributors across US and have distributors setup dealer accounts with smaller shops. Currently, Trend Motoring is their distributor in NA, however, Trend dont take walk-in customers. I am not sure the "D2" that Xeon has mentioned is the same D2 that I heard previously. 'Cause D2 is supposed to be the name of the retail division of Trend. My company, Harton Motorwerks, has just setup a dealer account with Trend, so I am one of the Carlsson dealers now. Yes, I heard that Dazz will be one of the distributor also. But Carlsson's administration is a mess, nobody knows what they are doing. Things might change after a week or two!!

Personally, I think Carlsson should do it like Brabus and setup a North American office, but I guess the cost might be too big for them.

I like Carlsson products and also thought they would benefit by having carlsson-usa where they could sell their engines, kompressors, full interiors etc.

Giovanna is the cheaper alternative to the real thing (they copy designs from high end wheel manuf), I assume quality is not the same as the original, specially weight.
I've seen giovanna's immitation to Lowenhardt LD1s it is pretty good, but they only come in 18 x 8.5, not staggered.

I agree with Harris, it is about time Carlsson opened a showroom in the states. They are falling way behind in the tuner market IMO. Brabus is ofcourse the pioneers while Kleemann; being relatively new to North America, is catching up rather quickly with their SC's.

You can't go wrong with the Carlsson 2/5 at 19". They are beautiful. I have them on my CLK55 and everyone gives me the thumbs up as they drive by. You definitely need to lower the car if you're going with 19" wheels. Carlsson is a great tunner and very well known in Europe. I agree, Carlsson needs to set up their own Carlsson-USA office.

I don't have any good side shot of the car. This is best I can do for now. I have 19"x8" in front and 19"x9" in the rear. The 2/5 serries do not come in .5 increments. If I get to buy them over again, I would get 19"x10" for the rear instead of the 9".
