Mercedes-Benz Might Launch a “GLB” SUV
Sounds like Mercedes is revving up for a new addition.
According to Car Scoops, the carmaker recently trademarked the moniker “GLB,” perhaps as a potential beefed-up version of the B-class.
The new vehicle, which is expected to be slotted right between the GLA and GLC, would potentially ride on a longer-wheel-based variant of the front-wheel-drive platform that underpins models like the MPV, A-Class hatch, CLA, and GLA.
The report doesn’t provide a lot of detail on what might be driving Mercedes to explore the “GLB” moniker specifically, or confirm that it’s a sure thing. But based on a quote from Mercedes-Benz Research and Development chief, Thomas Weber, it’s pretty clear that the carmaker is considering expanding the brand.
“There is always room in the lineup [for additional vehicles.] Is there room for additional SUVs? Why not?” Weber said.
