FCP Euro's Dapper Drift E55 Build Thread
Hello all,
I've previously played with a C36 AMG and after some offset bushings, custom camber arms in the rear, a 16v Cosworth LSD in the W202 housing and various other bits I ended up winning the novice class in a pretty competitive autocross region. Oh and I had to redo the entire engine/transmission wiring harness by hand (and the throttle body too, actually).
Anyways, I'm back with a W211 E55 AMG and together with FCP Euro we want to see what's possible with this platform.
I am going to sort this car out in order of importance, essentially. Necessary and easier-doable items come first. And so after driving this car around for some weeks, I've decided that the suspension must go. Based on some pre-existing wisdom in this sub-forum, KW was chosen along with offset K-Mac bushings.
However, I live in Oakland and before I can do any of this, I needed a place for car to spend it's downtime. So First order of business was to secure a little bit of shop space and put up some walls and a gate.
The grand idea is to eventually take this car out to Sonoma Drift and ThunderDrift, as well as various other HPDEs in the area.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Looking forward to updates! I just got my BC Racing coilovers installed (bought them from FCP Euro) but didn't get to AutoCross this weekend because I have a cracked wheel. :-(

I'm gearing up to film Episode 1 of whatever we decide to call this. Suggestions welcome.
The shop received a computer:
I need to upgrade the WiFi antenna however, because those gates we built (and a bunch of stuff around the unit) is basically a Faraday cage.
Today! An 80lb care package arrived from my FCP Euro homies:
I've also received a Bluetooth dongle I'm going to wiring into the back of the headunit.
But all of this has to wait until I make the first video, stay tuned.

Nice!
I am in the south bay, and there seem to be quite a few E55er's around the area incase you need more people/cars.

We're naming the episodes Dapper Drift
I'm beginning to test video angles, ordered a skeleton case for GoPro and an external mic adapter. Looking at gimbals.
My main shooting rig is too large and cumbersome for most of these shots.

Trying to do this right!
Anything special aside from splitting the SC onto its own plumbing circuit, Bosch 010 pump and swapping water wetter in instead of collant?
Going to be coming out to Sonoma Drift to embarrass myself and start making friends. Thunderdrift, but less frequently. Then running regular track configurations at Laguna, Thunderhill and Sonoma.
