From fierce racing competition on dirt tracks or hot asphalt, to stunts and tricks that will leave your heart racing, everyone loves a good car video. The 2016 Optima Ultimate Film Festival is the perfect place for both amateur and professional filmmakers to showcase both their love for cars and their filmmaking prowess.

Winning entries will be showcased at the 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas, as well as appearing in coveted national television spots.

Video entries fall into two categories: short video and action video.

  • Short videos are designed to showcase vehicle enthusiasts, performance vehicles, and aftermarket parts. They have to be in short story or documentary form, and less than seven minutes in length. That time limit includes any opening or closing credits.
  • Action videos need to be less than two minutes in length, including credits, and need to demonstrate your amazing vehicle in action. These videos should be shot in POV – point of view – format.

Regional Requirements

There are three regional events, each with their own deadline and location, though all finalists and winners will be showcased at the November 2 SEMA show. One entry will be selected as a finalist from regions 1 and 2 to be showcased during the show in November.

  • Region 1 will showcase entries submitted between March 11 and May 20 and will be judged during the Wall Township Formula Drive event in New Jersey on June 17.
  • Region 2 will bring together all the entries submitted between May 21 and July 22, and will be judged during the Woodward Dream Cruise on August 19 in Detroit.
  • Region 3, the final submission window, will take submissions between July 22 and September 20, and will be judged during the SEMA show itself on November 2.

Say you’ve already submitted your video, but you come up with a better idea before the last submission window ends. Are you out of luck? Not at all! Participants can submit up to two videos, one for each category, during each submission window, for a total of up to six entries per person.

Remember that your film has to be in MP4 or avi format, and has to be edited and ready to show when you submit it. There’s no going back to revise it after the deadline passes.

You can learn more from the delightful video below that the Optima Film Fest just released to announce its second year of hosting this film festival, but if you’re considering entering, it might pay to take a look at the official rules as well.

If you love cars, and love showing off videos of your awesome builds in action, this is your chance. What are you waiting for?
