Stock AMG E63 S Holds its Own Against BMW M5 in 360-degree Video

By -

Footage of an AMG E63S and a BMW M5 drag race from a 360-degree camera shows video tech at its finest.

One of the best A/V tech pieces that has recently emerged is the 360-degree camera. Now, we can experience all angles of every extreme sport or event right from a phone or computer. Of course, it didn’t take long for someone to take that type of camera to a runway drag race as seen in the above video from GTBoard’s YouTube channel. The results are pretty cool.

If you’re watching the video on PC, you can use your mouse to pan the camera, and if you’re on a phone or tablet, you can simply guide the camera with your finger. If you are listening on headphones, you may also notice that as you pan, the stereo mic inputs change with the direction you are facing. In this instance the vantage point is a 750-horsepower BMW M5, and you’ll want to swing around to the right, and take a look at an AMG E63 S.

Stock E63 S Can Still HangĀ

According to the video description, the E63 S is new, and we have to assume stock. The M5, however, is tuned with more than 750 ponies. Knowing that ahead of time makes the result somewhat predictable. Although the E63 S gets a good jump and hangs with the BMW, the disparity in horsepower is simply too much to overcome, and we have to continue to turn the camera to keep the shrinking AMG in view.

What we also notice is the tilting of the 360 degree camera upon acceleration and deceleration (gyro stabilizer, likely), but it adds a somewhat cool effect at the end of the video. Since this is an airport runway and the camera tilts upward, it’s almost like the car is about to take flight!

We cant wait to see more 360-degree videos like this, and we think one that’s on the inside of the cabin would be just as cool as well.
