Upgraded C-Class drop top gets a bevy of performance-driven cosmetic upgrades for 2019.

There’s been some static recently that the C43 hasn’t quite lived up to the AMG reputation. After seeing the refreshed and reinvigorated Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet at the 2018 L.A. Auto Show, we suspect the detractors will have to agree: This is a hot whip.

First off, the C-Class convertible has some serious ponies under the hood. The AMG-enhanced 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine is a beautiful beast. This produces 390 horsepower and 384 lb.-ft of torque. This baby can hit o to 60 in 4.6 seconds. That is some truly fierce AMG power. Are you not entertained?

The 2019 refresh is executed nicely, with aerodynamic cues that underscore the performance. The LED headlights updates are especially nice, and this model includes the high performance LED Intelligent lights with Active Curve Illumination and Adaptive Highbeam Assist. Other updates include light alloy wheels, upgraded front grille, rear spoiler lip, round quad exhaust, and rear diffuser.

The interior continues with the performance-oriented theme, and includes a flat-bottomed Nappa leather steering wheel. There is plenty of smart tech on board, such as the 12.3-inch cockpit display.

This is a hot upgrade to the C-Class convertible. With extra luxury, and pumped up performance, this is definitely an C43 that you can’t help but respect. Though, honestly we’d rather get that top down and take this agile and dynamic car for a ride.
