Mercedes-AMG Power & Elegance on Display at OKC Auto Show
MB World got up close with the performance-built Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4Matic+ and CLS 53.
One of the the things we enjoy about attending smaller auto shows, is that we get quality time with the cars. Bigger auto shows are exciting, and a seeing a debut or concept car is always a cool experience. But it is difficult to get real access to the rides. Earlier this month, we attended the 2020 OKC Auto Show in Oklahoma. And Mercedes-AMG had some of the hottest rides from their 2020 lineup.
Two cars we couldn’t take our eyes off of were the turbocharged and sporty Mercedes-AMG GT 53 sedan and CLS 53 coupe. Up close, you can’t help but be struck by the design and detail; and pure AMG fire.
Mercedes-AMG GT 53
Ravishing in red, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GT 53 AMG is a 4-door sedan with a hi-po heart. Powered by a 3.0L inline-6 turbo, the GT 53 is mated to a AMG SpeedShift 9-speed automatic.
With a powerful stance and sleek lines, it is a clean car that combines luxury with a little snarl.
Running on 429 hp, the GT 53 sprints from 0-60 in just 4.4 seconds. And it has host of performance upgrades such as AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, 3-Stage Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ESP Dynamic Cornering Assist, AMG High-performance Composite Braking System, Sports exhaust system, and rolls on high-performance tires.
It is a great looking Benz, and appreciated so much more when you see the seamless, exquisite design really highlight the AMG punch of power.
Mercedes-AMG CLS 53
Our first impression of the gray 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLS 53 AMG was “wow.” It manages to be sexy, bold, and a little buff. The interior has great tech, but keeps in step with the classic Mercedes aesthetic.
Details are well-thought out, and purposeful. Like the GT 53, it is clear that this is AMG powered, and was made to serve as a daily driver and pulverize the pavement.
Curvy and agile, it too is powered by a 3.0L inline-6 turbo with EQ Boost. This is Mercedes-AMG at its best, and most tempting.
We had a great time getting some unfettered access to the 2020 Mercedes lineup. Now we just need to get more time behind the wheel.
