Hooray! Mercedes-Benz Sells its 10-Millionth C-Class

While it wasn’t called a “C-Class” until 1993, Mercedes-Benz has delivered more than 10 million units of its “mid-range car” to customers worldwide since 1982.

Originally called the Mercedes-Benz 190, it was launched as the smallest car in the Benz lineup; because of this, many referred to it as the “Baby Benz”. The first generation W201 190 wasn’t very popular in the United States. Fast forward to the current generation W204, and the U.S. is one of the most receptive markets for the C-Class. Worldwide, the current-gen C-Class has sold 2.3 million units since beginning production in 2007.

The C-Class is manufactured in Bremen, Germany; East London, South Africa; Beijing, China and beginning in 2014, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Stock up on those “Made in America” stickers, folks.
