they absolutely do not. The 2005+ C230 Sport Sedans come with 13" rotors, not 13.6" rotors. I'm not suprised that the C32/C55 calipers fit using the existing rotors though.

Dont want to argue but I assure you that they are the same rotor from 2005-2007 with 13.6". I checked and double checked with dealer regarding the parts #. I also have a brochure for 2005 mercedes C class and it also stated that C230/320 sport sedan has 13.6" front brakes.

Zoomie, you may sure know a lot about modding a japanese compact economy "suv" with plastic windows, but CLEARLY not much about a w203. I'm an *** to you because you act like a holier-than-thou know it all with a sense of entitlement.

Your posts that excrutiatingly ponder whether or not you should spend $25 to get a "mod" for your car do not earn you much respect here. Rather than all the talk and whining about modding your car, with your checklists for $30 parts (that Shake accounted for in another thread) that bring you out all the way till June, why don't you put your money where your mouth is, take a chance, make a decision and mod your car yourself.

Also, the "now I'm starting to hate the driver." oooooh, wow, good comeback. Funny actually. Coming from a self proclaimed "young professional" that you list so proudly as your occupation, that means a lot... Do you really think that that's impressive? the brocures and website also said I was supposed to have 2-piston fixed calipers and digital climate control.

Sorry, I mean that they don't make rears for the sports sedan version. I guess they do have it for the regular. Morse auto dot com has the list and rears dont' appear unfortunately.

If anyone can recommend rear ceramic pads for a sports sedan (even a different brand), please share it here. (By the way I emailed morse asking for rears. Maybe you guys can send them an email to so maybe they'll start fabricating them. info at morseauto dot com. Thanks!

I'm confused. Those prices look superlow. Aren't cross drilled rotors priced at over $100 apeice? Dealer's sell 'em for $130 and the cheapest I found was $104. $90?

C 230 pads & rotors...HELP!

Just got a call from the dealership on our '06 C 230 sport. Barely over 20,000 miles (in almost two years of ownership) and needing new brakes and rotors I'm told...I can hardly believe this as my wife, who has to be the most conservative driver on the planet, primarily drives the vehicle.

I ham pretty skilled and have done my own brake pads and rotors on my Harley, Honda Civic and domestic pickups and GMC Yukon however I have never attempted a german car. For anyone who has done them on their own, with my knowledge, do you think I'll have any trouble? Is there anything out of the ordinary that I would need to be concerned with or is it as basic as other brakes?

I imagine the dealer is going to want major $$$...

I did mine on my own. Just make sure you have the right tool. I only replace the pads last november. You can measure the thickness of the rotor. I'm planning the replace the rotor this year when the brake wear light lid up.

This has been covered about 3300 times.

Yes, you can change the pads, and likely at 20K miles the rotors are fine.
Go with ceramic pads such as Akebono (at tirerack) for about 100 bucks and you won't need to do every 20K miles.
Stock pads are VERY soft.

Was told $775 for pads & rotors & $150 for rear pads by stealership. I told them I'll change them when the wear indicator told me to.

That C280 4Matic loaner goes like a bat outa hell. It put my Kompressor to shame in acceleration, handling and ride quality.

The day one embarrasses me, I'm going for the all conquering S4. My heart is set on it.

They are probably easier than most cars. Wait for the brake wear sensor to come on and then change them. I am sure the dealer is just trying to get a little extra money out of you. The only issue you may have is that the rotors may be rusted on a bit and will require Liquid Wrench and some patience. Before you reinstall some anti-sieze compound my help for future rotor changes. I have read that it is not advisable to turn the rotors, since they are drilled. OE rotors, pads, and one sensor should run about $300. The pads and rotors wear faster because they are better than an average car. I got about 52k miles out of mine but about 70% of my driving is highway mileage.

My wife is a pretty conservative driver too, and her brake wear sensor went off and her rotors were badly scored with concentric rings at about 20K miles. I replaced both myself with OE rotors, but went with cheap pads from Kragen auto parts. Aftermarket pads dust 1000% less then OE, and she couldn't tell a difference in terms of braking power. The work wasn't too hard, it was the first time I had done brake work, and I just followed what I searched here on the forum for instructions on what to do.

ahh i'm new to the performance cars still :P never even stopped to think we were probably discussing cross drilled and/or slotted rotors

anyways, assuming the brake setup is standard dampened steel or whatever (just vented rotors)... if youre spending the money on a nice new set of ceramic pads.. why would you put them on glazed over rotors? just seems like a waste of money too me :P

There is not much meat on the rotors. You probably cannot have them "turned." Mercedes does not allow dealers to do it. The precision required for Mercedes cars cannot be acomplished with workshop equipment. So it is best to leave the rotors alone when changing the pads.

Naturally you should measure the runout and thickness on the car when changing the pads. This will insure that the rotor is safe for continued service.

Consider the driver of the car when changing pads to an aftermarket style. Many are wonderful if the end user is a spirited driver, or if the car is to be driven on the track. The factory has to consider that the driver might be a woman who weighs 96 pounds with a pocket full of nickels. The pads need to be soft enough that the smaller driver can exert enough pressure on the pedal to stop the car in an emergency.
