Zoomie, you may sure know a lot about modding a japanese compact economy "suv" with plastic windows, but CLEARLY not much about a w203. I'm an *** to you because you act like a holier-than-thou know it all with a sense of entitlement.
Your posts that excrutiatingly ponder whether or not you should spend $25 to get a "mod" for your car do not earn you much respect here. Rather than all the talk and whining about modding your car, with your checklists for $30 parts (that Shake accounted for in another thread) that bring you out all the way till June, why don't you put your money where your mouth is, take a chance, make a decision and mod your car yourself.
Also, the "now I'm starting to hate the driver."

Think about it, there's a reason why people do that to you... We're not bad people here, you're the one that calls unfavorable attention to yourself and elicits reactions that you can't accept and subsequently cry about.

If anyone can recommend rear ceramic pads for a sports sedan (even a different brand), please share it here. (By the way I emailed morse asking for rears. Maybe you guys can send them an email to so maybe they'll start fabricating them. info at morseauto dot com. Thanks!

I'm confused. Those prices look superlow. Aren't cross drilled rotors priced at over $100 apeice? Dealer's sell 'em for $130 and the cheapest I found was $104. $90?
I ham pretty skilled and have done my own brake pads and rotors on my Harley, Honda Civic and domestic pickups and GMC Yukon however I have never attempted a german car. For anyone who has done them on their own, with my knowledge, do you think I'll have any trouble? Is there anything out of the ordinary that I would need to be concerned with or is it as basic as other brakes?
I imagine the dealer is going to want major $$$...

Yes, you can change the pads, and likely at 20K miles the rotors are fine.
Go with ceramic pads such as Akebono (at tirerack) for about 100 bucks and you won't need to do every 20K miles.
Stock pads are VERY soft.
That C280 4Matic loaner goes like a bat outa hell. It put my Kompressor to shame in acceleration, handling and ride quality.

anyways, assuming the brake setup is standard dampened steel or whatever (just vented rotors)... if youre spending the money on a nice new set of ceramic pads.. why would you put them on glazed over rotors? just seems like a waste of money too me :P



Naturally you should measure the runout and thickness on the car when changing the pads. This will insure that the rotor is safe for continued service.
Consider the driver of the car when changing pads to an aftermarket style. Many are wonderful if the end user is a spirited driver, or if the car is to be driven on the track. The factory has to consider that the driver might be a woman who weighs 96 pounds with a pocket full of nickels. The pads need to be soft enough that the smaller driver can exert enough pressure on the pedal to stop the car in an emergency.
