I checked for you with a quick look on tirerack. They are f-ing stupid. You should have the EUR779 pads which is the same as the C240 non-vented rear disc, but when you search C230 coupe they show up as the EUR873 which is the part number for the C320 sport with the vented disc caliper.

Oh wow idiots! I haven't texted MJ. He told me he was waiting for their call. yeah because the EUR873 were too wide in height. Hopefully an exchange would go through.

We spent 2 hrs on that freaking bolt!!! lol

2002 C230 coupe , NOt THE AVATAR!!
ok i have a question, i just got a front set Power Slot Rotor for my 2002 C230 coupe since is the only set i could find. Anyway today i tried to find places to do installation and they told me i would need new brakes pad too when i get new rotor because my current brake pad was "bed-in" for my old rotors

would it be a problem if my brake pad were only use for about 3000 miles??

they say if i still do it i will get lot of brake vibration and won't do good for my rotor

thx for the help

Yea you'll need new pads for new rotors. I cheaped out before to just buy rotors. But ended up spending extra for another set of new pads AND rotors, tossing the badly warpped "old" rotors after only like 2k miles...

chances are you were suppose to change the pads anyway when you replace the rotors. really worn down pads can create that problem. 3k mile isn't a lot. i wouldn't bother changing the pads again. just be gentle on the rotor when you are breaking it in. a lot of people are hyped when they get new brakes and thinks that "oh...i got new brakes that I have to test it right away" which is the main reason some people can wrap their rotors.

thx for the quick response as always, i might get the rotor on and then new pad right away when they arrived because my current rotor could go out in any second

C32 AMG
sorry to bump but i searched and couldnt find a definitive answer.

i understand c32 and 04.5 calipers are the same (except the amg logo)
are 04.5+ calipers the same physical dimensions? above they say they went from 4 piston to 2 piston but i didnt see mention of physical caliper size being changed

so my basic question is are c32 amg calipers the same physical dimensions as 06 sport brakes? I'm trying to see if a set of rims will clear my amg brakes or if i will need spacers.

That will also largely depend on the offset of your rims.

2004.5 recieved the same calipers as the C32/C55. SOME very early 2005's got them as well. The majority of 2005's and 2006+ C230 Sport sedans have smaller 2-piston fixed calipers (still good brakes).

AFAIK, 2004.5 brakes are identical to the C32/C55 except color and badging.

Eric, you didn't add the tid-bit about the 350's having the same 4 piston calipers as the 2004.5 Sport sedans.

Frank, this subject was debated some time ago, not all the 2004.5 have the same brakes than the C32!

They are different, I had a 2004.5 and the calipers and rotors where not the same! the rotors are the same as the 2005 and the calipers are also 4 pots but not the same as the C32 that are bigger and have a bigger rotor

Lol. I just looked up the parts list for my car and it's

Calipers:
A002 420 08 83
A002 420 09 83
Rotors:
A203 421 09 12
Pads:
A004 420 90 20** Replaces A004 420 05 20

My calipers are naturally going to be a different part number since they aren't colored silver and don't say AMG on them compared to the C32.

I'll lookup the 2006 C230 and 2004.5 C230 part numbers too. I want a definitive answer too.

BUT! It looks like I have the big boy brakes.

(also painted by an friend of mine)

2005:
(these ones painted by me 2 year ago, bought them by mistake and sold them)

Wow! Look at the difference in mounting holes between the C32 4-piston calipers and the 2004.5 4-piston calipers.

So, with this new info, here is the linup:

C32, C55, C350 Sport use 13.6" rotors and 4-piston fixed calipers.

2004.5 C230 use 12.8" rotors and 4-piston fixed calipers

2005+ C230 user 12.8" rotors and 2-piston fixed calipers
