For some odd reason the 1156 don't fit my rear turn signals. The little bumps on the side don't align with the spaces for them on the panel. I just painted my original ones silver, let's see how that turns out.

Pilot - On ebay, you bought the rear clear side markers from F1 correct? I emailed him like 2 days ago, if they would fit the 05's, and he said no they would not fit them.

But you said they do, cause you did it for your friend?

lol its F1's loss then - - he could be making more money by stating that they do fit on 05's. Ouch! Just don't get that finger infected, won't be pretty!

Now I know why.

The '05 WITHOUT XENONS use the 1156A while the ones WITH XENONS use 2357A for the front.

For the REAR you use a bulb called PY 21 W .

Front fog lamps use HB4 (51W)

Straight from the manual so I hope this helps.

yes PY21W are the same as 1156 as far as base size and wattage, number of filaments. the difference is the nipples that are on the base. the 1156, the nipples are directly across from each other, 12 and 6 oclock, opposite on the base. on the PY21W, the nipples are like 12 oclock and 4:30.

PY21W are Euro version
1156 is NA

I think that the PY21W in america are 7507 but I'm still trying to confirm that.

COOL ! Then my '05 must bring euro specs from the factory because the only ones that fit are the PY21W !

Now I know I can take the 1156A and grind off one of the nipples and it should work in a pinch if I ever can't find the PYs.

If now we could only find someone who will sell the 194 (W5W) bulbs that will be clear and match the whiteness of the Bi-Xenons and we'll be in business !

The closest I found was AMBulbs.com (W5W Xtreme White $14 a pair) but still you can't be sure if they'll be white enough.

Anybody have clear side markers and good white bulbs ? Where did you get them and what's the part number ?

I got some recommendations here from Citron and a couple of others on the board. They said to get the Xtreme White Piaa bulbs so that is what I got for my side markers and parking lights. That way I could have the whole HID look across all the lights.

Also, I am waiting for those bulbs and the clear side markers from F1. Both got shipped yesterday and today, respectively.

OK, I checked and the PIAA Extreme White are the same ones I was talking about on AMBulbs.com.

The problem with those is that we're going to have blue bulbs showing through the CLEAR side markers during the day when they aren't turned on.

Did you consider that when you ordered them ?

That's why I'm still asking around and looking for a really white light when it's turned on from a bulb that is either clear or silver, but not blue.

Since I started this thread...

...I thought I should "finish" it.

I finally got my clear sidemarkers. F1Sports via EBay. F1Sports actually is just an EBay account/front for A-Spec Corporation btw.

Got mine, popped them in, and it's great! The rear (as in towards the rear of the car) ends of the markers flare out just a tiny bit, maybe .3cm. It's not because it is loose though. The housing snaps very snugly into the hole in the rubstrip. I don't forsee any rattling, and it doesn't feel loose at all. I think flare is due to the lens/housing not being shaped quite exactly like the OEM part. It is a little flatter, while the OEM part curves ever so slightly more.

But it's a minor quibble, not noticeable if you're standing more than 1-2 feet away.

I love it! Definitely recommended. Sorry no pix right now. If you want to see what it looks like, it looks exactly the same as TOPSPIN71's install, of which there is a picture on the second post in this thread.

HOORAY! Thanks for everyone's help. It's my first real mod. I hope this thread helps others.

You're lucky. I've cut my finger installing and reinstalling those clear lens and mine haven't gotten here yet. Now I check the USPS webpage at it says that they were delivered !!!

Oh well, I guess now I have to wait for the USPS tracer to see who they delivered it to.

Congrats on your 1st mod !

BTW, now that you have the clear markers and you can see that the bulbs are not as bright as the other ones, have you decided what bulbs to buy ?

I'm trying to get some for my neighbor but at the same time for myself because I'm still hopeful that someday they will arrive.

Wrong!!! The cure and the cause are the same MONEY !!! Lack of or a redirection of it slows down and can even stop the disease. A remission .... only untill the funds get replentished....

Thanks!

I have had packages totally lost before. Tracking page says "delivered!", but nothing on my porch! Either someone stole it right off the porch, or the shipping company totally screwed up. It sucks.

Actually, I did not get *clear* sidemarkers. Mine are translucent, where the lens has the same "texture" as the stock lens (like a bike reflector), but it is white instead of amber. So when you look at my lenses you do not see the bulb, so that's not a problem for me.

Mine look exactly like TOPSPIN71's, who posted a pic in the second post of this thread.
