my nokia car kit is being installed tomorrow.
any thoughts on aerial types, placements?

Antenna
From an RF Engineer standpoint, right in the middle of the roof (flat) with nothing else around it. This would give it the optimal antenna pattern and maintain the gain.
From an owner standpoint, anywhere I can get decent signal and not have my ride looking like a porkupine or like it has little black warts (antenna radomes) all over it.

Yep, the OEM location for the Cellular antenna is the rear window, centred at the top of the glass.

you can hide the sirius antenna in the car by using the sirius antenna from a CL-Class.
