This is a concept that I had brought up a while ago, but I guess someone actually came out with a filter for it. Anybody try this?

This was a custom "one-off" piece that flip made himself. You won't find this anywhere else.

that one above is carbon fiber.....very expensive

you can choose plastic or metal.....its a 12" long pipe, 3.5" diameter
use 3.5" silicone turbo/intercooler couplers to connect the ends.

basically, cut all the stock plastic pipe off but leave the plastic ends and clamp the new pipe onto there.

Haha.. okay, why I did the CF piping is because 1) it looked damn good 2) presumably CF is a natural heatshield (and that was DRY CF piping). Generally you want to stay from metallic pieces as they just warm up and soak heat, so a thin plastic you might be able to get away with...but it has nothing close to the strength of a CF mold.

Is it real carbon fiber or wrapped? What flip did was cut a full carbon fiber pipe that was already pre-made for something else. If this is wrapped, you may not get as good of results, but looks good!

its not real carbon fiber.. i wrapped it.. it's an 3.5" aluminum pipe. i got silicone connectors. but it looks good.. looks close enough to carbon fiber.. i cant find a carbon fiber pipe so this will do for now... but i dont think this gives any performance... sounds the same too... i might be wrong...

the more i looked at it, i was a bit more skeptical. you may end up losing performance/hp on this due to the pipe getting heat soak. hope for the best.....

the stock pipe is cloth.. so it gets heat soak too... what ever you put it still gets heat soak... everyone has a cold air intake the pipe is still under the hood right? the filter could be under the bumper or in the trunk... the pipe is still under the hood... heat soak is normal... how can you make a air intake with out heat soak?

If it's wrapped aluminum piping, then it wouldn't have the same effect as the carbon fiber pipe Jose used before. Either way, it looks very nice, however it basically is for aesthetic reasons rather than practical or performance reasons. If that's what you wanted, then it'll work.

i did the same thing for my kompressor, it looks clean and all, but it shouldnt really gain that many horses. what i did was connect one of those intake filters from kragen and put it right on the front, near that area in your grille where air is meant to flow through. this is suppose ti give me at least 10hp.

check it out.
http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0023_large.jpg

this pic is when i first put it on, so it was just hanging right near the pulley, and fan belt. the next day i changed it so it wasnt hanging there anymore, unfortunately i dont have a pic of that.

nonetheless, this is idea works

So glad the M112 has both air intakes put to use.. Don't have to waste my time with a PVC pipe that does nothing..
