I cant justify spending 30+ bucks for some LED's and a resistor! What a ripoff.
I'm buying the regular led's and installing a resistor myself. e_1000 has a great writeup on how to do it.

good luck
I'll make a picture DIY for you guys when I do my install. e_1000 has done a great job of writing up the resistor install DIY and I have no intention of reproducing his work...but I'm sure a picture DIY will be helpful to all.
Currently waiting for the LEDs...been a week and a half since I bought them off eBay
Currently waiting for the LEDs...been a week and a half since I bought them off eBay

So got the bulbs yesterday and picked up the resistor. Tried installing today...but damn...getting to those wires on the coupe is almost near impossible!!!
It involves removing the felt liner, then the brake light cover, then the entire trunk plastic liner which I could not get out after hours of trying...so I give up.
Not worth SO MUCH effort for the license plate bulbs. Might go the error free LED way.
Supposed to be easier on the sedan.
Anyway, if anyone needs the 2W LED's I bought (pair) + the 5W 22ohm resistors (pair) + the heat transfer compound + wire taps, let me know.

Anyway if this forum is about making fun of people who actually try....good on ya...while you sit around waiting for others to post picture DIY's....LOL

After my failed DIY...Im looking at these error free LED's. Are these fromt he ebay sellers or the MBW sponsors? Also, how long have you had them in for?
Thanks.

Well this requires the removal of the entire license plate holder (the huge plastic piece) and the trunk liner as well. I suppose it's alot easier for a sedan than a coupe

I found these by way of the SAAB board; both SAAB and W203 use the 6418 bulb for license light. In the LED it's 3610-x4. Different colors. I have not tried these myself. Pretty cheap too. http://www.superbrightleds.com/festoon.html#festoon

Sorry. Just tought it was funny that you posted it was a rip off and would do it yourself. But then, go the rip off route anyways. Originally Posted by jcnash

Just joking around. Cann't anyone on forums take jokes any more. Maybe I should have put a j/k in the original post.
I can take a joke buddy...but when all you do is post a smiley face after cutting off half my original post, kinda hard to even consider it along the realm of a joke.
And yeh I still say it is a ripoff...and im sure you agree too. But if I cant get to the damn wires in the coupe to install the resistor, and want the white lights, not much I can do but get ripped off right? Again..I atleast TRIED to not get ripped off...rather than just blindly go and get ripped off without a fight.
Anyway whatever...its all good! Forget about it.

Getting to the wires in the coupe involves removing the felt liner, the huge plastic trim (which pretty much covers like 80% of the inside of the hatch), and then a third plastic liner which would not come off after hours of effort.
But why do we need to do all this? Arent the LED's you used plug and play?
lol this thread always makes me laugh and cry. i thought about doing this awhile ago but decided that unless you guys find a long lasting solution i will stick with my stock yellow light. i never have to look at it at least lol. GL
Haha...I think that too..but then this is such a simple solution! It bugs me that i can get it to work..LOL. Im determined to make it work!
Although there seems to already be a fool proof fix for the sedan.

The lights come in a complete housing and are not simply replacement bulbs. If you go with this method you are still going to have to remove all the lining and brackets for the Coupe.Originally Posted by jcnash

How about tell us something we don't already know?
Then again, what would I know since I just sit around and rely on picture DIY's.
