So wait, im confused... did you guys order the Höen 36mm and 39mm dLED 'C5W' bulbs - $35 per pair or the Höen C5W incandescent and W5W - $20 per pair???
I thought i could use the dLED since they give off more cooler light, no?

i ordered the C5W 6148 4,000k incandescent bulbs, 20 a pair, i hope those are the right ones but i can't figure out how to get them installed
i wanted to stay away from the LED one, i herd you have to change out a lot more and installation is harder, i'd seen a picture of the hoen replacement bulbs and they looked like what i wanted

Im not completely satisfied with the look on my car yet...seems like the light is concentrated on the edges...It looks great but could look better.
Maybe more brightness would help.

The sedan is a snap. Unscrew the two screws and pull or pry the housing. It pops right out with the bulb. Nice setup. The bulbs I used were for the 6418 $20/pair. Slip the new bulb into the holder and replace and it will go right into the hpusing. I had to bend the contacts a little as the new bulb was a trifle shorter.

Resistors are needed only for LED bulbs which consume much less than 5W, to up the power consumption of the bulb + resistor combo to 5W, to simulate an incandescent 5W bulb.

ok, so i need to replace my lights as one of them is definitely burned out (just popped it out and checked)
so which is my best bet for (1) no errors (i don't want to use a resistor) and (2) the whiter/cleaner looking light?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-No-...ht_6713wt_1161
OR
the ones from here: http://www.hoen-usa.com/licenseplate.htm
if the latter, which of these two? :
Höen dLED replacement license plate bulbs in 36mm and 39mm sizes (i think these are 4,500k)....and would it be the 36 or 39mm?
OR
Höen 4,000k direct replacement incandescent 36mm ?
TIA....its a W203 C32 AMG if that matters (it shouldn't i think)

does anyone know if the 36mm LED Festoon bulbs work well? and if they throw codes? I can't find a wattage for them on the site.

I would say try these:
http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/5-Se...duct_info.html
I have a similar version (that I got from eBay a while back) on the w203 and they work great and have been running perfectly with no errors. I'm also running these exact bulbs on my gf's Cayman S and they work perfectly with no errors. (The Cayman S is just as finicky with bulbs as the w203 and I think it's due to it sharing quite a few electrical components.)

Those FOR SURE won't work.

question. in the link, it says "9 Ultra-bright Xenon White 1W SMD LEDs "....so 9 1W LEDs....won't that throw a code if the stock ones are 5Ws?

Maybe the LED's are wired in parallel and only suck up the equivalent to the stock incandescent. All I know is that I've tried a lot and this one works the best.

It doesn't throw a code on my w203. I've tried A LOT of other ones and they've all thrown codes except for this one.

Just because it's Phil, I just chose Jlevi over Hoen... Didn't hurt that they were trying to charge 9 for shipping either lol

They are error free, no resistors. I have had them on for a year with no problems.
That is the seller I bought it from but not the same link. The ones I bought had the following title (NO OBC ERROR 2003-2009 MERCEDES W209 LED LICENSE LIGHTS).

i first saw the ones off of ebay on here and thought id give them a try -- purchased and installed them. at first the fitment was a little bit loose trying to get them into the holder but after a little patience everything fell into place. these are probably the best ones you can get for the price, bright & clear with absolutely no error at all. id recommended these to anyone

Just picked up the 9 Festoon LED bulbs from JLevi that Phil suggested. I made the mistake of picking up the 39mm bulbs and they didn't fit in my license plate section. Instead of returning them, I installed on in my trunk and one in the trunk of my gf's VW Rabbit.
To fix my problem with the trunk bulbs being out, I contacted a local vendor (Southern CA) and he met me within 15 minutes. I picked up two 36mm dual Festoon LEDs for the trunk and some 194 plug-in bulbs for my headlamps. Everything worked out so well and I didn't get any errors. I'm going to be getting more soon. PM me if you'd like the guy's number. He's awesome and will test them with you before you have to pay.
