guys- I will very soon now be able to get ahold of some very high quality xenon-looking LED's. i should be able to put together sets for interior as well as this. Those of you who aren't getting in on the group buy do not despair!

I hate the LED lighting in our '06 GS300. At first it was cool how the little spotlight LED shine where you sit, etc, but it is so dim as to be almost completely useless

But back on topic, the license plate lights are a cool color

THe LEDs on that car muse suck ***, cause the ones I have are a lot brighter than the stock dome bulbs.

Will the after market bulb be to strong? I believe the factory license plate bulbs are 5 watts. All the after market bulbs are 10 watts. Is this a big concern or will the 10 watts be ok for it?

I have a ML 350 and I do see some Lexus with them on and they look great and I want this on my car too.
Just a little concern on the stronger watts I don’t want it to melt anything since I do a lot of night driving and the license plate lights will be on constantly.

Actually, it isn't brightness of the LED's, but the way they are arranged and the tight bean they are focused into. The GS doesn't have a "dome light". It has an array of a few LED's in the front and the rear of the cabin that point straight at certain spots (where your butt rests, the center console and the steering wheel). There are also some under the dash and under the front seats to point down to everone's feet, but the rest of the car stays dark. I guess they were trying to make it like a movie theater's lighting, and we all know how bright movie theaters are

I forgot to add there there are some LED's inside the interior door handle recesses, but all these little spots of light simply cannot light up the cabin they way I like.

I was thinking of testing LEDs in the interior just to see what it would look like. Has anyone tried it yet?

Very soon I will have access to LED's for the interior as well as for the rear plate. I'll take some pics ASAP. Also, there shouldn't be any problems with supplying as many as you guys need!

edit:
I will have both regular fillament-style bulbs which have been tinted to xenon look (and are very bright) and regular multiple-LED bulbs available. It will be a direct plug-in job and they will have a good warranty on them (i might be able to swing a lifetime warranty!) and a set to replace all interior lights, trunk, and rear plate lights should be very affordable. I'm really pushing to get these things made available to me this week.

You know what, i really never pay much attention to the brand after i buy it. I cant even recall what brand my HID's are. I will know this weekend when i go in for the purchase.

All i know is i tried 4-5 different brands of bulbs for the Rear licence plate and these are by far the best ones. Ive bought these bulbs at Kragen and auto-zone. They are expensive but the quality sucks. It gives off a greenish blue light that i dont like. I also tried some bulbs from a Tuner store near my house. They gave off a dark blue, too blue for my taste. I think these are perfect. Ive had them on for 3 months so far. No problem here.

Will Try

Also if you can find out the size and brand, I MAY be able to get it alot cheaper. I worked with a few companies in the past that manufactured aftermarket parts and bulbs and can see if they can get them. I can try, but can not promise anything.

Here's a pic of the LED license plate light on my GS. The manual says it is .85 watt.

LED's wont have this problem at all as they don't burn anything creating heat, they are much more efficient at converting electricity to light. most LED's are completely cool to the touch.
