How much would it cost to paint my C320 in a tectite gray color?

I was curious how much it would cost to completely repaint my C320 to a tectite gray color? I want a finish like the OEM paint job... has anyone completely repainted their car? Thanks!

I believe a good paint job will cost you $4K on up.

I haven't had a car done recently, but an OEM type job involves taking the entire car apart - otherwise anyone will be able to tell it was a respray by looking inside the engine compartment. Since OEM paint is baked on, you will have to figure out how to do that properly.

Figure on a 10-20% reduction in value with a repaint.

A good paint job (not taking the car completely apart, but still a reasonably good job) will cost you $4K or more. Truly OEM-like might be upwards of $10K.

It'd be a lot cheaper to trade your car in for a new (or used) one in the color you want.

i'd say an oem quality paintjob.. will cost you between $4000 and $6000... i agree that you should get the color you want by getting another car, or just get used to your color and learn to love it

A quality paint job will run you in excess of 6K. It would be wise to save the cash and trade the car in for the color you want. even if you could get a great "Hook-up" paint jobs are costly

Go to Earl Scheib The most they charge is $599 for their best paint job. If you are tight on dough, they'll paint your car for $199 but for that price they may not have the color you are looking for. If you are in a hurry try 1 Day Paint a few dollars more than Earl but worth it.

I had my crx redone 2 years ago - fixed a couple of dents also, but it was $1700. For a decent paintjob, repainting a black car.

At least the gray is darker than the silver, so that would keep the costs down, but like everyone else said, it would probably cost you between 4 and 6 k, assuming top quality, removing engine, etc. It's not worth it, but I do understand wanting to change the silver color.

okay.... well here is the thing.... i have an older C280 which is black, but the thing has terrible paint swirls, i mean terrible! how much would it cost to get the swirls out? make it shine like it did when it came off the showroom floor? i thought that if i painted it, i wouldnt have to worry about swirls being that noticable. so since i dont want to spend nearly 6k painting it, how much will it cost to get rid of all my swirl marks... even if its from a professional?

Take it to a body shop and have them do a light color sand and high speed buffing and wax. That will remove a good portion of surface scratches and bring out the new car shine. Have then touchup any rock chips or scratches at the same time. I've gotten that done for about $200 before. If you want it done cheaper, some detailers will buff your car for about $100. Make sure you see their work before and that they use a high speed buffer and not some useless orbital buffer. Orbitals can't generate the heat needed to soften the paint and remove swirls properly. They are OK for applying and removing wax but then again so are your hands.

Keep it looking nice by using a high quality wax like Klasse or Zaino once a month.

I have the equipment and know how to do it and taught a 16 year old how to do it on his badly neglected black '92 BMW and it came out great. My cars are not that neglected.
