VW GTI just pulled on me

GTI with ricer exhaust just walked on me from 30-80... I have '05 1.8L s/c with K&N. Any thoughts on next steps to add power? Headders/pully/chip... anyone have real benefit (dyno results whould be awesome) or experience with these mods? Please help.

Had: 1987 300TD, Had: 2004 C230 Sport Sedan, Have: 2014 E350 Sport, Have: 2019 S450
Best option: Trade up to the '06 C350. There are no mods that will significantly improve the performance of the 1.8L. Some have claimed to be working on pulleys, chips, etc. Have yet to see firm numbers.

Otherwise, come to accept that the C230K is a great car, but not well suited for the stoplight drags.

On the positive side, my Benz hasn't been to the stealership 1/4 as many times as the wife's Passat. Rest assured you'll be passing by the GTI while it's on the lift in the near future . . .

You guys are right, there is no replacement for displacement!

I was a lil disappointed with the VW pulling on me, understanding I would NEVER drop my benzo to get one of those lunchboxes. I don't really drag race, but lately everyone keeps stepping to me with their rice-mobiles around town. I think they are sweating the benzo and want to talk crap.

Thanks for the feedback; I am still very interested to see dyno numbers for anyone that has done headers/pulley/chip mods on the 1.8L.... until I get another $10G's to get the 350 sport.

If its the 1.8T GTI, you can very easily and cheaply get it to over 200HP. I have a friend who got his to ~280, but outside it looks stock unless you happent to notice the bigger IC.

SLKfan had custom headers made up and he got it dyno'd. He went from 154 RWHP to 172RWHP about a 20HP gain. Would it be safe to assume that Kleemann did some testing that a custom shop does not have access to. In which case maybe their 25 HP claims are true?

hahaha ah thats great that a dub pulled on ya. But why are we callin it a rice mobile?..I had a gti and with all my engine mods, it could easily pull on others. So dont be mad that a cheaper, easier to build-up car beat the tank that we drive. And just for reference- heres my old gti. BTW the body kit was all imported from Germany for those of you who are gonna jump the gun on the body kit.

That's because you drive a 215HP C320 sport coupe with the 3.2L V6.
The C230 sportcoupe with the supercharged I4 would have a harder time.

"So far" carbon fiber hood and a lightweight optima... but in terms of weight, shouldn't the GTI be like 800 lbs. lighter anyway? I mean, I know my limits haha.

What are YOU having done? A gastric bypass surgery? If I wire your jaw shut you will definitely lose at least 25-50lbs in a couple months on a liquid diet. J/K :p

Talking Ricer?

The ricer comment perplexed me too. Are you sure that you don't have displacement envy?

C230 WZ - Six Speed
Uhmmm where to start... I have a 6-speed, so yeah I know how to downshift. I am rowing my gearbox daily, beeeoootch

Capt Nemo o2 stated the GTI is 1.8L too... so I have power envy, not displacement envy...

Although, a W203 with a bigger powerplant...

AdamVax, I think you hit it right where I am on this...
It just doesn't feel right for a GTI to hang with my benzo like that...

Your car looks awesome! Surprised you didn't get your car in Eurotuner.
The roll bars inside look nice. You must have spent a good fortune on it.

haha your brother is also pullin your chain on how much hp gain he has from those mods. Around the dubbers we call Neuspeed 'No speed'. With those bolt ons hes probably close to 200whp
