Aero Wiper Retrofit Discussion Thread

Pretty much all MBs 2004 and newer will have aero wipers, so you'll probably see them all over the street as well

Oh yeah, the only tool you need (instead of all that fancy schmancy OEM angle-adjusting stuff) is a 13mm hex socket. Try a position, tighten the bolts by hand, go switch on the wipers and see if you are happy with the positions. In the ideal position, the passenger wiper *just* overlaps (maybe 1-2cm) where the driver's blade sweeps, ensuring maximum coverage, and that the driver's side wipes as close to the windshield trim (driver's side edge)without hitting. Of course, you also want to make sure that nothing else (ie bottom of the windshield) gets hit by the blades or arms.
Don't use the socket until you are absolutely sure, as the bolt will jam the wiper arm into the spindle (it's an interference fit), making adjusting a real PITA, not to mention you slightly damage the arm "hole" each time you do this. Each time you adjust the arms, you slightly damage the arm hole (think of it as stripping threads off screw hole)
One recommendation is that you mark the old blade positions with a water-soluble marker as a reference. I found that I liked my aeros slightly "higher" than before during the rest position (to wipe closer to the driver's edge) and the passenger side slightly "lower" (to ensure they were out of sight when not in use). Personal preference here.

When did MB make the switch to the bracketless aerowiper blade assemblys on the W203?
Also, is it possible to retrofit the newer style aeroblade compatible arms on an early model W203?
thanks!

Sorry Carlos, yeh he should STFF, but I have the #'s handy.
I haven't done this mod, so verify the pn's.
"Here are the parts needed to retrofit the Aero Wipers on pre-2004 W203s:
203-820-32-44 wiper arm
203-820-27-44 wiper arm
203-824-07-49 cap
203-824-05-49 cap
203-820-10-45 blade
203-820-15-45 blade"
From what I've read they make the wipers work much better when driving in the rain at 100+ mph. Which doesn't happen often in the US.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

I'm sure the part #'s are on there somewhere. Maybe all those threads should be merged.
I'm a couple hundred miles away from both of my C-Classes with 04+ Aero Wipers, so I can't check part #'s right now.

The problem is, with the new shorter blade on the drivers side, there isn't enough tension to hold the blade to the glass at the top of its sweep. That leaves a portion the size of a slice of bread untouched at the extreme left of the windshield as you're looking out of it from the drivers seat. I find that very annoying.

Before it was 24" L (driver) 22" R (passenger), but now both sides use 22". Doesn't really matter as it's not like you use the edge of your windshield.
