Thumbs up Installed my Vogtland springs today...

This morning I installed some Vogtland springs on my C230 Coupe. The drop is spec'd at 30mm and that appears to be correct. The front is down to a 2 finger gap and the rear (with 4 dot pads) is a 0 finger gap.

Vogtland claims these spring would work fine with the OEM shocks. After putting 47 miles on the car since the install, I would agree. The springs feel slightly firmer than stock and provide a nice compliant ride. I still think the car needs sway bars, but I expected that.

Do I like these springs? YES
Did these springs give the drop and ride claimed? YES
Would I buy Vogtland again? YES

Over rating?

pictures to follow...

View along the side, from the rear.
This pic also shows how the C7 wheels fit with 20mm spacers.

Must be the angle of the pic, because the gap was cut almost in half.

What made you go with Voglant springs? Are they available in the U.S.? Why not Eibach or H&R?

Several reasons, but the main 2...The Vogtland rep told me they targeted a ride and drop somewhere between H&R and Eibach with OEM shocks. That is what I was looking for. After riding in several cars, I believe they have succeded. Also, I play golf with the owner of PURE-Motorsport and won a nice discount.

I wasn't looking for a big increase in stiffness, if I wanted that, I would just drive my BMW.

Yes and No, I did install it myself, but did have some help. Yes, I have a spring compressor ( like Randals at AutoWerks), and also a Branick. No, I would never use those regular(cheap $30) ones.

No, they didn't look progressive to me and I don't recall the rep telling me that they were.

oh, and when the OEM springs are uncompressed, they are about 18" long

Why hasn't anyone just cut the factory springs to lower the car? Then you can get whatever height you want.

Well, somebody has to be first, so start cutting.

Be sure to share your results.

I think HARRIS has some knowledge (and warnings) of cutting the springs.

I keep hearing of people cutting the H&R springs to get more drop, might as well cut the factory springs, save the middleman. The problem with being first is that you have to cut & test a few times until you get the desired results. If I can do the springs myself and had the time I would but if I have to pay top dollar labor rates for doing it, the pre-made springs are way cheaper.
