CL203 Coupe Pano-roof Maintenance - MB lube Grease Part #s, gears, & fixes
Now the scotts I know are tall, strong and a keen witt with baudy humor.
Nuk is not british... Spinelessness is questionable... I am 5'9 or 5'10 short...
The humor thing... umm look at some of my other posts you crotchless panty wearing crack monkey.
I was asked to change my siggy.
I tried to save it for special occasions. Mr. Mod was cool about it though. I swear, I never meant to offend, insult, degrade, or belittle anyone... I just don't think it's funny if people aren't insulted. I am seeking help soon. AutoX has cured the road-rage, it's a first step.
I don't even know if the squeaks/rattles are common with this roof type...but the point is, this person seems to be having rattles and squeaks, and is unhappy with them.
Some people offered maintenance/fix tips, which is nice. Some of the sarcasm can be funny too ( mctwin2kman was particularly humorous)...but be reasonable...not everybody in the world is going to love a particular brand of car, and not everybody in the world is going to have a great experience with a particular model either!
I'd recommend to the poster that you storngly consider getting out of your car now. Your resale should still be respectable, and desirability on the used market should be high...if you are noticing this problem as much as it would seem, you are never really going to be happy with it. You are going to be embarrassed to have friends or relatives in the car because you will be so sensitive to the noises (which they probably wouldn't even notice). But the main point is, if you aren't completely satisfied with the ownership experience, why keep it?
Good luck!

I'm new around here...but as a MB owner and a VW owner I have gotten used to some responses like this on the more immature VW threads.

There are also a couple other threads about doing trade-ins, and the final conclusions seemed to have been that it'd be a loss of too many thousand dollars. It's probably the same sort of situation here, not sure though.

:p
to make up for the lack of smilies in my last post, until I can lose the 'virgin' label and rack up some experience here!
One thing to note is that many of us have gone to meets and hung out and crap, even more of us know of each other for a decent amount of time on the boards and can afford to joke with one another without fear of some physco posting how he is going to fly from Canada to kick your **** because you told him you thought it was lame of him to post pics of his girl on the same page as the pics of his car as he was treating her like a possesion.

BACK TO THE RATTLES;
Since I installed the sways and springs, both trim pieces along the sunroof have come undone, and the front panel rattles like a pill poppin hooker throwing her purse to the ground before dropping to her knees.... and the windshield creaks too.
Overall satisfaction is still high, but these are the little things many of us FIRST TIME MB owners would've expected from a Honda. My Bimmer never had any rattles... ever.

Well after ~25K miles, and 1.5 years, the sucker has started to rattle and creak all over. You can hear the car flexing.
The roof just started, so I'll be adding that to my list of minor irritations that need to be fixed on service B , which is coming up soon.
Found another one, creaking from the passanger door or fender...
?The chassis itself is solid but the add-ons can loosen up after a bit of heavy stress like autoX? Nuts.
A lot of people claimed the MB chassis was so stiff it would never need bracing... I disagree completely. When I go up driveway lips and **** you hear everything creak as it flexes.
Nuk, is that the whole chassis that creaks or just the springs, etc? Man, that's kinda disappointing.
The sunroof frame
The side panels of the sunroof come loose and rattle
The Windshield (top drivers side, stops when I press on the glass)
Something near the top passanger door hinge
And the plastic trim along the back of the hatch area hits when I go over bumps making a loud "popping" noise. Blue painters tape stops that.

Either tonight or tomorrow night I am just going to get under the car, relube the sway bushing, and check all the bolts and nuts I can get to. For now... I should be able to resolve most of it.

asked them to correct the sqeaking noise coming from the pano roof. I got the word today, that they've ordered a NEW roof for my car and plant to replace to the whole thing.
Wow. Sounds scary. Someone gave me a cd with some c coupe info and video's one of which is a video of the roof replacement procedure. Actually the largest avi files on the disk...
must be an issue for them, but watching the video, well it's a scary process. Anyone else have this done?
I hear the sunroof got a redesign in 2003 to fix the creaks and the stuck sunshade problem.
Right now, they seemed to fix the creaks with gobs of lube, and I am about to complain about the sunshade that sticks.

Erik
And don't worry about the replacement process. I'm sure MB will take good care of you.
Good luck with the repair. If they are going to replace it for you, I am sure that they are trying to do this to really fix the problem once and for all, and that they will do a fine job. I would tell you one thing you can do to make sure it goes well is to tell them, when you drop the car off, that you imagine that it is a difficult procedure and that it is much more important to you that you get the car back right than that you get it back fast -- tell them to take their time, even if it mean an extra day or so, and tip the service advisor to drive home the point. In my experience, you don't want your mechanic doing things to your car in a mad rush, and you would be surprised at how much rushing actually occurs in the typical day of service department life.
Not yet but I might have to at some point.
