Steve installed folding mirrors today

I went to the pro to have my mirrors installed today. Unfortunately, the W203 without the memory seat option do not have the module installed in the passenger seat to support the folding function. So I will have to get the module for the passenger side. Will cost another 130-150 Steve said.

Also, on the C-class they don't fold when the car is locked for some reason. Steve tried activating the convenience feature, but that didn't do it. So, now the mirrors have to be folded by pressing the button on the new headlight switch Steve installed.

For now only the driver side mirror will fold, I am going to get the module this week from the dealer (Steve gave me the part#). In all, a great experience. Steve is a pro. He had the motorized mirrors on in no time.

Then you don't have to worry about the door control modules. You can see my pictures at http://homepage.mac.com/drsunilpatel/PhotoAlbum14.html

I have memory seat at driver side and not passenger, are you saying that i will need to get a module and also folding buttons above the headlights switch to get both mirrors to fold, correct?

Another question, how much is the motorized mirrors and also the switch other than the module which is $130-150. Thanks.

It was weird to see though that not all US cars come prepared for all options...MBUSA went cheap on door control modules...

Good luck with the door repairs (not related to the mirror install )!

Steve, thanks again. I appreciate the work.

Also, if you can find out for me (whenever you have time!!!) why the mirrors don't fold in when the car is locked that would be great!

Once again, thank you. Have a safe trip home.

Steve I got the control module and had it installed. Everything works fine expecting for a rubbing sound on the passenger side. It might need a little grease or something.

Thanks Steve! A 203 820 14 85 = $92.00 US

that rubbing sound is not the motor at all. It's the rubber trim around the mirror hinge. You can use some armor-all and that does the trick. But when it rains and dries up, the noise is back. I just live with it.

i have a little problem on my power folding mirrors since about 2 weeks ago. everytime i fold the mirrors, i get a "check turn signal front left" error message, im not so sure as to the exact words, but its telling me to check the turn signal bulb on the right headlight. this only happens when i FOLD the mirrors, the error disappears when i restart the car, and WOULDNT appear if i UNFOLD the mirrors.

I have had the same message on my right mirror. Seems to be a loose contact on the mirror housing. I will check it out later on. It goes away the next time I drive.

ive been lucky i guess, i havent had any issues with my folding mirrors. my auto dimming glass is melted but that has nothing to do with the mirrors. i was sent a 211 mirror rather than 203.

Folding mirrors for my '05 SS?

Currently, I have the auto dimming rear view mirrors. I would like to put folding mirrors on as well as the convex mirrors. I though there may be some issues on the install if I don't have memory seats. What do I need to get?

you may need to get a door control module for the passangers door. The drivers should be fine.

Capt Paul,
I had that same issue, but no worries, Steve (MBenzNL) has the answers.
My car does NOT have power/memory seats, but power folding mirrors can still be installed. Dr. Sunman is absolutely right: the driver's side should be OK, but the passenger's side will require a new door module.

e-mail Steve or BigSis for a complete list & prices. He will be here (SoCal) in late Nov/early Dec, so if you're out way West, you might be able to catch him and get stuff installed too. You will need:
- folding mirror frames x 2 (driver/passenger) + any related cables
- passenger side door control module
- convex "split" euro mirrors x 2 (only driver's side is auto-dimming)

Carlos

some folding mirrors have the harnesses attached (prior to 2003) and the newer ones don't

Folding mirrors and turning lamps activated!

First of all, if this has been covered completley before, I apologize. I haven't been able to stay current as much as I would like to with the board.

I have an 04 C 320 coupe, and tried to use SDS to activate the turning lamps. (where the fog light illuminates on the side of the car you are turning toward) Even though there was a menu choice for this, my car wasn't able to perform this function. Also, Steve from MBenzNL put the option of folding the side mirrors (if equipped) upon locking the vehicle, like the S and CL can do. However, with this turned on nothing happened.

I was able to get both of these functions to operate by installing a new front SAM module (part number A 203 545 36 01) and doing the version coding with SDS, and now both functions work!

Remember, to get the mirrors to lock when closing, you need the folding mirror retrofit and you need someone with SDS developer mode to activate the feature in your instrument cluster. Also, it is necessary to remove the wiper assembly to install the new SAM module, so it's not a small job.
