Brake Wear Light on

HI,
does this mean that just the pads are low, or does it mean that rotors should be changed too
i have a c320sport 2005 with 30000 miles on it
I live near Ft lauderdale MB and i prefer not to take it there because they have insane service prices
I have gone to ultimate euro which is pretty good.

regardless, im not sure what to do
pads only, pads and rotors, fronts? backs both???

please advise

Check your rotors if they are still good (not wrapped/cracked anything like that), front pads are all you need.

Usually, rear pads last almost twice longer (around 40-50,000 miles) compared to the front.

Yes, it just means the pads are low. The sensor is on the passenger side front rotor. My warning light came on about 3 weeks ago and I looked at the pads and they still had about 5/32" so I will watch them and probably change them whenever I think it is time. I already bought the pads, rotors, and a sensor. About $300 total. My rotors have some groves so I am just going to change them.

To me if the rotors aren't warped and there's no deep grooving, I just throw pads on, doesn't take much time and MB pads are cheap. Check Duval Motor's website (link on my website) for the parts. Also pickup a sensor since you've blown yours (one time use if the warning goes off). They may squeal the first month or so until the pads comform to the shape of the rotors but not too badly. You can do it yourself including parts, anti squeal compound and brake grease for under $100. There's instructions somewhere on the forum, I think I replied to one today.

So if the warning light for the brakes comes on you have to replace the sensor as well? How much is the sensor? And, I'm guessing it's only 1 since dnlow said it was only on his front passenger side.

Yes, sensors are toasted when the warning light comes on.

It should cost around $7 from the dealer.

Very good bump. Someone's been STF!

Yes, if the light comes on, you have to replace the sensor. As coin said, it is roughly in that range. Some dealerships have it as cheap as $3.
