Euro impact / bumper strips (All You Want To Know)
if you car is black, it's a very easy DIY job. heck all i needed was some primer, black paint, and clearcoat from WalMart, al for less than 10-15$. it takes a good part of the day, but it's still faster and much more economical than buying it from EvoSport or paying another member 70$. heck, i'll do it for you for a pack of cigarettes.
i was quoted 375 for them in irridium silver (awhile back)
any pics of the oem's painted?? is that price w/ you supplying the lenses?
im interested.
**edit** price corrected.
((and 430 w/ parktronic holes))
just look at my thread, you can search up Mu9enx's Go Go Mods. and no, you'll have to send me the sidemarkers. as for paint, it will be up to you to find one that matches your body color, unless of course, it's blacc

send me a pm if you're serious.
aite, i'll be nice and do the searching for the pic. here is what mine looks like:
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
A couple years ago I got some euro impact strips from Steve and just recently I got an error message about my left sidemarker lamp being out and my mercedes dealership has refused thus far to change it since its not OEM.
I remember he tied it up behind the euro impact strips or the wall right in front of the wheel. My question is: Does anyone know how to remove this so I can switch out the bulbs and remove this error code? I am incredibly incompetent when it comes to stuff like this and would prefer someone else to do it but I have no other choice. I searched the sticky but could not find instructions on how to remove the impact strips or get behind it to switch out the bulbs. TIA for the help.

but, depending on where steve tied the wires, you might not be able to access them from there, you'll need to remove the inner wheel well cover to gain access to it. my L and R side bulbs are giving me errors cuz they've corroded, i also havee the euro impact strips...so it doesnt bother me i guess.
I hope this helps….Funny I read about European impact strips and lights this morning…I had an idea last night to;
1) Cast the chrome in a clear UV resistant resin – molding in “sockets” to receive 5 watts worth of LEDs for the running light and a few more LEDs for a better turn signal.
2) Chrome the back half of the cast clear part so that it looks chrome all over.
3) Wire in the LEDs to the running light wire and the other LEDs to the turn signal.
4) Re-Install
Anyway…On to your issue…
(This is what my Dad and I figured out in the drive way one day…)
1. TAPE off all the surrounds on the upper and lower rail to protect the finish.
2. Use two small / thin mechanics scales / or thin plastic tools / wedges to get in-between the impact strip and the fascia – you are looking for the THREE molded in snaps – release them by riding your tool over the top / bottom of the respective snap.
3. Start releasing the snaps on the INBOARD side first walking the strip out to the corner.
4. The corner has an upper and lower HOOK that you must roll out of its catch.
5. Remove impact strip to do what ever!
Hope this helps,
Jake
(There is NO way to turn the lights "OFF: in the system, with STAR or any other tool that I know of...)

Just use a thin flathead screwdriver, put a thin towel around it, and pry the strips out from the inside to the outside of the car. It'll seem weird at first, so the first one will take a while, and the second will take seconds.
I kept getting lights out, so I just went back to stock strips.
The strip comes out easily like Tommy and Kev describe.
As for the burnt out bulb, I have to replace her right marker bulb as well.
I can feel the wires just inside the hole where the marker lens would go once I remove the impact strip.
If Steve installed the strips and tucked away the side marker bulbs, they are probably snugged tight near the sidewall of well well. Feel around for the wires and you should be able to pull them out gently.
I had the bulb wrapped in high-heat electrical tape to prevent it from breaking and thus not having to do the resistor mod.
So every 2 years or so, I change out the bulb when it burns out and I get the malfunction warning on the instrument cluster display. No biggie.
The whole process is really easy though...
