...a panty dropper...
I have the stock grill with the flat hood emblem and it looks clean. I just dont like the giant star on the other grills. Mattig makes a black grill thats almost like the stock without the center rail connecting each slat. Take a look.

I agree. It suits the car better. If you were to paint it black you just have to have a good exterior color to go with it.

I have the grille you're looking at. It's nice, but I wish I would have just tried to find the black version of the stock grille...it's so much cleaner.

I'm picking up a custom stainless steel grill.
Then if I park on a hill I can BBQ on it.

Ya to be honest what I'm really interested in seeing produced is a mesh grill with the MB star in chrome superimposed over it or just w/in a cut out in the middle of the mesh grill...

Exactly. Don't waste your money. No offense to those who have the CL grille, it is an aquired taste. The only one i like is the MH-Dezent one. There's a reason MB didn't put a star on the grille in the first place.

I like it and the price is right. I have the same (CL Style) on my car and looks good...Plus, I can swap it every so often with the OEM for a change.

if it matches the car's styling, do it. if not, stick with the stock and paint it if you want black grilles.

mesh grille on a modern Mercedes is retarded. This is not a Caddy or Lincoln.

well fortunately there are alot more than caddy's and lincolns that have mesh grilles...and considering the MB already has a mesh type grille on the front bumper I found it hard to believe its so outrageous to think that it might look good with one up on the grille...but to each his own though one shouldn't be quick to judge something before they know what it will look like...

Unhappy Help with attaching Star to 3 Fin Grill

Hi,

I've just bought the 3 fin grill and MB star, for my 2007 C230 Sport...

But I have no idea on how to attach the star to the grill.

From what I can tell there's no clip to clip the star onto, and NO instructions came with it. There's only on bit sticking out of the star on the reverse and this just slots in loosely with no way to attach. I don't want to send the whole lot back for a refund, so if any of you have figured out a way to attach the star to the grill, then please let me know..

Here is the grill without the star

Here is the star

As it should look

The underside, note that there's nothing clipping it in, just its sitting there loosely.

The center rod is the key here I'm guessing, but what has everyone used to grab it and secure it?

Any advice would be appreciated.. Otherwise the whole lot needs to go bakc...

There should be a round clamp that looks like a flat washer to hold it in place... look closely in the bag or box the star came in!

darn it, searched high and low and there's no such clip.. At least its put an idea in my head for what i need... BUT i'm guessing this is going to be a hard item to find at Home Depot... Does anyone have a pic of what exactly i'm looking for? I'm guessing its a washer with a jagged inner circle?
