I switched out the $12 hose last year, but my SA told me this recall includes more stuff. Got it done last month.
From the invoice:
1 271-010-00-82-05 Hose - this is actually a kit that includes the (V4) $12 hose, the lower 2 hoses check valve, 4x intake plenum gaskets, and 4x lower injector (goes on the injector tips instead of the base) o-rings.
3 008-997-24-90 Cable Tie
1 001-997-69-90 Hose Clamp

im about to call em up tomorrow and talk to the dealership at my local mb dealer and see if i had this replace. But if not then i will get it replace asap. But i got one question if i had it replace already in the past and i had paid for it do i get my money back
Newbie
I already had engine failure and had to replace the head. I was told this would have been the preventive issue. If it hasn't been replaced, I will definitely be taking it in. Maybe I should bring them the tab =D.

Hey guys, I called the local stealership today and verified that they are still continuing to do this service work for the recall. Thank you guys for this awesome heads up!

I called them to see if they were still running the program for my C230 recall service. They told me yes and to just bring the car in. Once i brought the car in this morning, I waited for one of the service guys to call me over to their office and he told me that the work is all covered. They told me the work will take roughly 4 hours, but that's ok. WOO free service and carwash!! I opted for no carwash as i just washed and waxed the car over the weekend.

I contacted the local dealer, and they said they never heard of this campaign. Is there a way I can convince them it actually exists? Is it mentioned somewhere on the official MB website?

When you call them mention that you are aware of service campaign for pvc hose and lower hose, if they still resist mention the MB campaign # 2008020002 (part#271-010-00-82-05). Also for your 2003 as about the cam sensor harness update (2003 specific).

i already got the Valent hose change and they didnt charge me anything but they said that ther is no PCV on my car and i have an 04 c230 kompressor and im sure that its an M271 motor in it.

I called my dealership and they knew exactly what I was talking about and scheduled me an appointment for 2 days later and they fixed it (as well as added coolant and fixed my foglight)
totally free!

I just purchased my 2005 C230 k 3 weeks ago. All of a sudden last week it started the power loss and rough idle. I reviewed the forums and thought the hose was it. I took it into MB and they told me the campaign had been completed before and so I left it with them. The conclusion was that the dealer who completed this before messed up and didn't properly install the hose. It became disconnected at one end. They went ahead and replaced it and didn't charge me a dime.

i finally got around to doing this and i'm glad i did.. they also found that service campaign# 20081220008 (replace pilot bushing at electrohydraulic unit) hasn't been done on my car so they went ahead and did it for free

MB really messed this one up. My SA told me EVERY M271 engine ever manufactured has to have this recall performed, which is over 11,000 cars in the Vancouver area alone.
There are probably 1M cars with M271 engines, around the world, all of which will require this work. At say 2h per car (but more like 4+h), hopefully MB has very deep pockets.

a couple of weeks after they did the service campaign my car CEL went on and brought it back to SF Benz thinking it might be something related to the work that they did on the car.. turns out it's the thermostat and they did the job for free.. under warranty according to my SA.. a week later the CEL went on again and had to bring it back again.. this time it's the oxygen sensor.. did the job for free again (under warranty too).. i'm very happy with my dealer and SA so far

Called SF Benz last Friday and SA noted the hose campaign had already been done (purchased '05 C230K SS as CPO in Jan). But before I could even ask about campaign #20081220008 (after reading joone427's post), the SA told me it hadn't been done yet and that MB was being proactive about the fix. Scheduled for this morning (Mon) and it took less than an hour to complete while I waited in the dealership.Originally Posted by joone427

+1 on being happy with SF Benz, and thanks to all the contributors on this forum for sharing info that can save others time/money/headaches.

I have a 2003 C230K with 51,000 miles that developed a rough idle all of a sudden half way home from work. Took it to adv auto and used their OBD II tester.
Came up with weak signal from MAF sensor, Rich fuel mix 1-4 and missfire 1-4.
Replaced the MAF changed nothing little tip here if you disconnect the MAF or High altitude sensor the car reverts back and smooths the idle.
Took to MB dealer for diagnostic test they said there was a campaign on a vent hose 3 hour job that MB covered parts and labor. I believe this to be related to emmissions that is warranted for ten years via our fine Gov't.
This fixed the problem.
The vent hose is located under the air filter box and behind the Kompressor.
Campaign # 2008020002 Vent hose 025722 rplaced vent hose 124 WM 3.10
1 271-010-00-82-05 HOSE.
Star diag included as well as clearing fault code.
They still soaked me for $123. drivability diag I guess since the star diag was included they needed to find something else then they tried to soak me for new plugs $150. I said no and when i picked up my car I caught them in a lie about the fault codes still being active. when i got home and lifted my hood a week later i found that they broke the one clamp to my air filter box doing the campaign and did not attach fully the hose going to the compressor and pre compressor chamber. I will be doing my own repairs as long as i can.

^^ - it would seem your service advisor sucks. I'd be having a few words with him it were my SA. Don't feel too bad though, I had mine taken care of before it was a recall - a tad over $500!
