Trying to find the braided brakelines that would fit my w203. Anybody has any cross-reference information, such as the thread size?
I'm sure there are plenty of substitutions available besides the "specific" ones with the jacked up prices.

I wouldn't say about $100 for all four is a "jacked up" price. I know there are places that will do them custom, etc., but I'd rather spend an extra $20 or so for peace of mind.Originally Posted by sharkmobil

well, this "piece of mind" is a really abstract thing, in this particular exampleOriginally Posted by nlpamg

if you are looking at two products with two different quality standards, I would understand, but we are talking about re badging, volume of sales and capitalizing on brand loyalty here; any particular reason that a ss brakeline for chevrolet camaro is twice as cheap as the one for the C class, different molecular structure perhaps?

do you buy all your parts at MB Dealership and perform $225 oil changes for the "piece of mind"?

if you know well enough, you wouldn't spend $225 for an oil change. other members and myself here have gotten FREE oil changes from the dealer. I'll do service A at the dealer and have them do a bunch of warranty work and I'll get a loaner for a while. it's called convenience, having a paper trail later on if anything goes wrong and you need some warranty work done and knowing how to negotiate with them and knowing the right pricing.Originally Posted by sharkmobil

parts, I've gotten them from the dealer and other sources who have given me quite a bit of a discount. I absolutely refuse to buy any "parts" for my car at pepboys or napa with the exception of bulbs and tiny things. are you telling me that you'd buy an ABS pump from pepboys instead of getting an oem one?
as for the brakelines, I know that some of the cheaper ones are not teflon coated and when they rub on other components they tend to wear more easily.

if you're trying to cut/save a difference of $10 to 40, you should probably be interested in modifying your financial status as apposed to your car.
