W203/CL203 Aftermarket Wheel Thread - All you want to know
#7027
Hey guys, fairly new here just really hadn't had the time to put some time in the car other than the regular maintenance. I have a white 05 C230 Kompressor sedan and wanting to put aftermarket wheels and wanted some feedback. This is a daily driver until i get another car, and wanted to know what you would advise on the sizes of wheels. I've heard that heavily driven daily drivers should stick with 18's (drive about out of town at least once a week for work and about 100 to 125 miles a day in the city when i'm home), or go should I go to 19's and just be careful.
What is your advice and what non expensive wheels would you recommend? I like something like the MRR GT1's or TSW or Mandrus multispoke wheel possibly in matte black or polished lip with glossy black center..........need some advice and also I want to lower the car with either coil overs or springs....I don't want to slam it but I want the wheel well gaps to be smaller than what they are now.......Also, to get the car aligned, have you all been taking your cars to the dealerships? I've heard some non dealerships can screw up the alignment if not done right......will the dealership do the alignment when the car is altered? Sorry for the long post but I feel i know what I want but would like to get some advice from many here that has done this to their daily driven hard cars........
Thanks guys!

If you want cheap wheels there's threads on here from sponsors selling sets for 499-599 also tirerack has fairly decent price on wheel and tire combos. As for alignment, if you're going to lower the car, I'd take it to an indie shop that deals with lowered cars. Also tell them to do it to MB specs. If you dont have the SS model I'd say buy a set of SS springs and struts. If you want a moderate drop Tein wont drop your car too low, but the spring rate on the Tein are lower than the SS model so it wont feel as sporty or handle as well. H&R drop your car pretty lower, Eibach not as much, so if you want an ok drop get the Eibach or Teins IMO. Coilovers are a lot more expensive and if you dont plan on adjusting your height much just get a set of springs.
18s are the best combo for comfort and looks IMHO. 19s are a little rough for me. But I have 17s now and love my comfortable ride since I have more sidewall, but my cars dropped pretty low and friends are surpised the ride is so nice. But look around the classifieds and sponsor threads for good deals on wheels.

Phister,
Thanks for the reply. I have the Sport edition, and really want some other rims. I will look around, and go from there. I don't know of an individual shops that deal with lowered cars. I saw that I could get the adjustment bolts if needed to put the car in MB specs before going to a shop. I have looking at the continental extremeContact DWS tires, and the Yokohama Avid Envigor tires both competitively priced and good specs. I may do the 17's and drop the car so I don't loose the ride. Sounds like I may have to keep my 17inch shoes for now......Thanks for the info.

Alright last questions for this thread for me for a long time (unless i don't plan on changing wheels :/).
So the fronts stick out like a sore thumb, but not too out. It's somewhat aligned with the fender, i just can't tuck it in. So instead I just need to stick out the rears the same. I will probably have the same stance as Subarus where it's lowered but the wheels aren't tucked in.
18x9 et 37. I'm using 12mm in the fronts. What would I need for my rears? 10mm or 15mm? I can't really test it, don't have the spacers or correct bolts yet. Or am i suppose to take a ruler and stab it against my rear wheel and see how much it sticks out from the fender in inches?
Thanks

Thanks guys Im waiting for tires to arrive Tuesday. tires are 215/40/18 and 225/40/18. offsets are 18x8.5 et32 and 18x9.5 et35. I have a 5mm spacer now that I am going to see how it looks with. But I am considering 10mm all around or 5f and 10r. Best part is they are only $599 from sonictuning!! Cant beat these wheels for the price

I'd go with 10 all around if you want it really flush. you'd be at +22 front and +25 rear. Thats about perfect IMO. I have +20f and +25 rear but I'm considering going all out and pulling as much as I can so I can go with +20r. I test fitted +20 rear and it was right against the quarter panel so I'm going to try and pull it out as far as possible, if that doesnt work I'm getting to get cf fender flares and modify it all out lol if I do I'm going to get new barrels so I can get a lower offset and wider wheels. Only thing sucks is that each barrel is like 200.

Trying to get to 0 offset or close to it as I can. If I do get fender flares I think I can achieve it. Just have to do measurements on how much extra room I can get with the flares. It'll be more body modifying Either I'll get new barrels or call up JLine or Rotiform wheels and do a custom order.
Like these wheels from Rotiform
these are my choice right now but in a different color... maybe candy teal also LOVE step lipped more than flat lip
2nd choice
3rd choice. Might do the 1st choice in this color
JLine choices
1st OVERALL choice... just so SEXY
2nd
3rd- Gotta love the VIP style

You ever think of some DPE's. I know some friends that work with them and can get you a wayy better deal then with Rotiform. I think some CCW Lm's polished would look amazing with your ride with some super low offset.
Edit: tires will be here tom. So I am going to mount them up and see where I want to go as far as spacers go. I want to get into the low 20's offset so Im thinking a 10f and 15mm rear. If anything Ill pull some more.
