i've been in this forum for several weeks now and finally got a chance to post some pics of my c230. After a few weeks lurking around and reading DIY posts i finally finished my mods. Nothing crazy some minor small changes. i like to keep it simple. i think my last mod will be chrome door pins what do you guys think?

mod done:
1. c55 lip spoiler
2. chrome trunk handle
3. mbenz wheel air pin
4. flat hood emblem
5. chrome door shell
6. 3-fin grill
7. double din multimedia with ipod intergration
8. all season rubber floor mats
9. new style chrome key

Lol you took pictures of mbenz wheel air caps and your new key fob.. Air caps on my car were stolen twice so i will not buy those anymore i guess the cheap rubber ones are okay. anyways your car looks good keep it up

More info on double-din install. Does it use the steering wheel controls? Will audio info show up on the dash cluster display?

Your key lacks a panic button. Am I missing something? Is it a Canadian thing (no alarm installed)?

yeah that's my extra key. the other has a panic button.

two of my friends also have the same car, color, options except my minor "mod" they kept it pretty stock.

unfoturnately the steering contorls wont work unless you buy this adaptor or something that what the installer told me but he said its really not worth it, it cost aorund 200usd just for the part.

my dash cluster will only show " AUDIO-----" on the screen. the car doesn't detect any audio system in the car, but it works. i miss having the volume controls but doesn't matter i rather have an ipod intergration than steering controls and watch dvd movies

On the tire cap note, i had amg tire caps for two months until someone stole my tire caps. They only stole two....some people are just haters. I don't understand why someone would only steal two and not the other two.

where are you guys losing your valve caps...lol my BBS valve caps are all intact and the MB valve cap on my sister's CLK are still intact too.

Kids / Young teens are who i will point at... ive caught someone stealing mine in front of my house good thing i came out with a airsoft gun and scared the **** out of them.. Anyways when they take two of them i found out they use them on there bikes to look cool... oh i have benz caps on my bike..

My car is no longer parked in my driveway anymore enclosed in my garage!

Smartkeys that don't have panic (and sometimes lock buttons) are emergency or valet keys.

wrong... smart keys do have panic was at the dealer yesterday. He was showing me the different types of keys.. You just have the one with out the panic button which is odd. don't worry you should never forget were you park your merc at least i don't.. If you haven't showed your friends yet, roll your windows with your key fob just hold the unlock button by the door for more then 3 seconds and watch the magic.. holding lock will roll them back up.. Just my two cents if you haven't showed it off yet. My friends went crazy when they saw that . Have fun with your car man. Like another member said black rims would look sick with a chrome lip

Re-read what I wrote. They're all "smartkeys".
Up until 2002 (I believe) Mercedes delivered the cars with 2 regular keys, each with lock, unlock, trunk and panic buttons, plus a valet or emergency key, which lacked the panic button.

Some are confusing the blade key for the door, trunk & glovebox with the valet key. If you can't drive the car with it, neither can the valet . The metal key could lock the trunk and glovebox to secure personal belongings when the car was in the valet's possession.

The "valet key" which was delivered with pre-2003 vehicles looked like a regular smartkey without a panic button.

Read mbtech208's responses (post #7 in particular) regarding valet/emergency keys.

AFAIK the valet/emergency smartkey is still available from the parts department as a special order (at least it was about a year ago).

The head unit looks great. Does the ipod integration control the ipod through the HU? Does it charge the ipod?

i control the ipod through my HU and also charges my ipod. i'm trying borrow my friends ipod video i can watch videos on my HU.
