Yes but he should have done that with 1 plug out per cylinder - I'm trying to save his back

Guys - I need help - does anyone have a good wet & dry compression reading for this engine ??????

Kris - forgot in my half asleep state last night. When you take a reading on number 5 please do it dry first - ie just as you took the plug out. Then give it a few squirts of oil into the cylinder & repeat. Report both values

True, and I have never said anything different.

In another note, I hope his problem gets fixed soon and it doesn't get to expensive. Seems like he's norrowing down on the problem. He doesn't have the same noise he had at the beginning and he has already eliminated 1 of the 2 codes.. Now to check what's wrong with cylinder 5 and done. He might have a bad coil. I would swap coils and see if the code transfers from one cylinder to another. If it does, just replace that coil and be done.

I did this i think.. as i was replacing the coils and coil pack with Cylinder 4 to 5 and 5 to 4 To see if it would throw a code like P0304. But the next door neighbor came over and started to talk to me about the car. I had both coil packs off and i forgot which one was which when i was talking to him. I put it all back together and still got P0305 So im gonna try and change the cables with say cylinder 3.

Let me wake up and start working on this baby again

Hi Kris,
F1 went the way I wanted, Hamilton & McLaren Mercedes won at wonderful SPA !!!

I think there is a good chance that you put coil & lead pack 5 back in the same place. If you did not we might have a burnt valve or similar but let's not think that way. I still think it's something simple. Let's keep with the program & do all we intended one by one. The compression test will tell us if we have another problem on 5. And please swap coil & lead pack 5 with another cylinder. Please mark them this time. These kind of mistakes happen. When I was much younger I owned 6 Alfas in a row. One day I was servicing my 1750 Berlina - drained the oil - forgot to put the drain plug back - and poured 10 litres of oil all over my parents driveway - felt like an idiot & never made that mistake again. I was a battling student & could not afford it either!

No probs! Kris is in a bind and I'm trying to help by remote control. Never easy but if we adopt a logical process I hope we will win. People have helped me a lot on this forum. It's nice to return the compliment.

How are you going with your Bi Xenon problem? was it earthing, puny wires or ballast?

Wonderful! We certainly are winning. Get a new coil pack & replace. Please stop those oil leaks and change that fuel filter. You don't know the service history of the car.. There might be more than one thing wrong but I would halt matters until you replace the coil pack.

You have just saved yourself a fortune - I'm really pleased!

Now would it be the coil pack or the coils themselfs? Should i try changing the coils real quick with cylinder 2? and see if its the pack or the wires

Yes - good logical approach. Don't replace all coils & leads just replace what you have to to get her running normally. Then you can make a quiet decision as to whether you want to replace all. Don't do more than you have to while we are trouble shooting. I'll be happy when she runs normally - then you can decide on how many bucks you want to spend - and you now know how to do the job so some Tech can't talk BS to you.

Just changed wires ONLY from Cylinder 1 To Cylinder 2 and the code i get now is P0302 so im going to go buy wires right now from NAPA be home in about an hour with an update =D

I hope they sell just wires themselfs and not a kit but if they sell a kit i will replace all.

Because if the cables are starting to go out its just something i will have to do later on.

I HOPE THIS WORKS GUYS!!! Im so happy..

Good Man now we are all thinking straight & winning together

Let's get her running normally before making any decisions. Coils either work or they don't. Ultimately a good idea to replace all wires but let's finish the diagnosis. I'm a parsimonious ******* Oh! and buy that fuel filter

Hi Kris,
I'm so pleased for you - I was wrong about the fuel but the process of elimination worked. We can all learn from this & I don't care if people call me patronising. This thread was heading in the right direction from post 9 but got derailed by a lot of us well intentioned individuals throwing in ideas out of context and without logical process in mind. I have no idea what Kris' technical capabilities are but I would have become confused which is what lead to the this vehicle is "junk" comment. It took 60+ posts as a result to resolve. When we help others in future - let's not take it forgranted that they know or understand where we are coming from & consider the poor receiver before communicating.

Anyway - enough said - I'm delighted we have helped another member resolve an issue - Kris - go enjoy the babes on the beach and please fix those minor oil leaks & change that fuel filter. Service your car properly and I'm sure there is lots of life left in it - and I mean lot's! Keep in touch on the forum.

Just enjoyed 40 miles of driving on the beach side.. Just waiting 2 more hours so i can wash my car. And fall back in love with it.

I can't believe how smooth the car runs. Feels like i just bought the car again.

It may have taken well over 60 post. But im sure ppl can use this in the future.

To Do list when i get more money lol :
K & N Oil Filter
Green Air filters
Fuel Filter

And 18 inch rims some day maybe around Xmas

(If it wasn't for this board and members i would have paid about 1k+ in repairs)

96$ Dollars for 12 Spark plugs
270$ Dollars for Coils
70$ OBD II reader Which will come in handy later on.

Once again i want to thank everyone for helping me!!

It's an absolute pleasure. I would encourage you to use OEM filters but it's your choice - only one exception and I'm going to make the choice for you. Please only use the Genuine Mann + Hummel "fleece" oil filter made for Merc in Germany You can get it in Mann + Hummel packaging or genuine MB silver packaging. Don't mess with anything else!!!

Read this thread when you have a moment

Yeah - I've weakened - will be getting some wheels for my ride
