Add oil question
I searched the forums and didnt seem to find an answer, my 2002 C230K coupe computer is telling me to add 1 L of oil, just so that i dont mess it up i have some questions
What oil do i use?
is it best do it when the car has not run for a while?
and is there a certain procedure to add oil other then just opening the cap and pour?

I'm not sure. But i live in edmonton alberta because im goin to school here, my home is in Saskatoon Sask. which is like 450 kms away, i recently went back and took it to a dealership to get the Xenon=Present turned on cuz they were the only MB that would do it since i know all the mechanics back home. I don't know if they checked the oil or not tho. in all i must have added at least 1000 kms for that weekend alone, and in the past 3 years my car had 45k km and ive already hit 80 km in a short time I know im using my car alot since i moved, maybe thats why? the last time i had an oil change was i think in the summer. also this winter has been rough as we have had up to -50 degrees Celsius weather

Get this checked ASAP!
These cars do NOT burn oil, they LEAK oil.
The M111 2.3L C230 has a known problem with the cam sensor leaking oil, on the M111 the oil leaks through the harness and into the ECU! There's been some members with $4K repair bills.
The cam sensor is on the front of the engine under one of the engine covers, easy to check if there's oil in the connector. I'll bet $5 there is.

how long has it been asking for 1qt because i got lazy and didnt add it for 3-4weeks and when i added one it still needed like an extra half ran the test on the car and it said engine oil level is ok now..i have to add a qt of oil however to my car about 3-4 per year. I believe it is the supercharger that burns the oil quicker.
you guys say leak? where does it leak? i have never seen a drop under my car and my engine bay is spotless... i have an 03 C230K compressor by the way..

My engine bay was spotless, the underbody panels were COATED in oil. You cannot see this from the top, jack the car up and check them.
With the cam sensors fixed my car has NEVER asked for oil. If yours is, its leaking somewhere.

Yes, cause then you can ask the dealer to find out where your oil leak is.
You're low on oil, top it up until then. Being low on oil can cause oil not to get to the right places, and you'll be looking at a bigger repair.
Since you're unwilling/unable to check for the oil leak, bring it to the dealer now, don't wait the 2500 kms till next service.
