Wheew nice price. I shoulda waited haha. Bought my header used, got the new cat from Cory a few months ago. Paid a little more overall, but it's still worth it when the sound matures a bit. I still have the stock exhaust, but am considering changing it (or maybe resonator?) this summer to try and get a deeper tone (I put video youtube links in my car's thread on benzworld [same user name] for those interested).
Cory - Do you have anything else for the M271 or just the headers/cat?

Whoooooooo mine just arrived today and I went out to get quotes on installation. Fitting and installation plus adding flanges just in case I want to go back to stock, was quoted to be $545.00 at my local shop.
What prices are you guys looking at for installation and are you guys gonna flange your system in case you need to get smogged?

@midnight: you also didnt receive the gasket??
It isnt hard, but your car need to be lift up to cut the pipe... take a good saw and its an easy job.

I checked with a couple reputable shops in the LA area and the most someone was charging to install was $200 without the flanges. I don't know if it should cost that much more to weld on a couple flanges...

Well if you guys aren't going to worry about smog, i guess ill worry about it when the time comes. Saving $300 bucks is on the top of my list

installed this morning!
i was really tempted to tackle this on my own at a friend's garage... but after having it professionally installed and watching the whole process, i am very satisfied. if anything... i highly recommend getting yours professionally installed and get the pipe welded.
to answer your question, i also did NOT have a gasket to fit between the headers and cat. it was listed in the PDF, so i was pretty disappointed. this ended up in a big headache, but scott at hi-flo really helped me out. we were able to find a replacement gasket (metal) and everything worked out in the end.

-goes very well with sprint booster and manual transmission
-i would buy this product again (but demand a gasket!)
i definitely took the scenic route home... and can't wait to drive again...

If you want to have some space, the car needs to be lifted above your head!!
Just like i mentioned before, you need the gasket to fit it, otherwise you cannot connect the headers and downpipe.. so Cory was wrong, just what i thought....

Actually he's not wrong, it works just fine without the gasket. It seals as soon as it gets hot which is exactly how it is designed. Having a gasket is not a bad thing but it probably wont last long.

Yeah I was going to point out to midnight also that he was missing his heat shield. Otherwise POST SOUND CLIPS NOW! ! !

is there a part number for the gasket or do you know the size? i want to try and get it before the header arrives...

there wasn't a specific part number. it was just a standard gasket, but metal. there were fiber ones and when i tried that it melted fast. so we had to go with metal. dont quote me on this, but i'm pretty sure it was 2.5''. i'll give you confirmation on that next week.
