no, it will work, it will do the job...but like the guy said...you wont really find that it has a nice gloss...its all about what you want...but i mean you probably want something with a gloss to it right??

Dupli color will work just fine, as long as it is the correct can.

You need to use the duplicolor Auto Spray® Clear Top Coat. It sprays on nicely and has a good shine. You can also wet sand and buff it after 12hrs to get a perfect finish.

I'll help you if you want...I also have a set for a w220 ready to go...

You need a good air system, a good set of guns, I use all Du-Pont paints, some PPG, and auto tints - including Hollywood tints and Du-Pont tints...

Craft stuff, and aircans on platic may not / will not hold up well, especially in the sun and weather...

I use all auto grade supplies - and you need to know what to do - and have the area to do it...including a bake oven to dry your lenses after 30 minutes to lay it smooth...

Good luck,
Jake

The duplicolor rattle cans hold up pretty well. Ive sprayed a bunch of small items and done a number of tail lights with 0 problems. I also have a HVLP paint gun and have used the PPG paints alot.

I usually use the PPG concept 2042 clear, with the dcx61 hardener and DT870 reducer. I dont have a oven to bake the paint, I let them air dry. 1-2 hrs clear is tacky. 3-4 hrs clear is soft but can be picked up gently. 12hrs later the clear is fully dry and can be buffed.

Tail Light Overlays

Anyone have any experience with this particular product?

Mercedes C230 C240 Smoked Taillight Overlays

My primary concerns would be quality and darkness. They look pretty good in the pictures, but I'm wondering how they will hold up. Also, they look pretty dark. I'd light a little tint on my tails, but I don't want them so dark that I'll just be waiting to get pulled over.

it not prefect cut like 2-3 cm off and it hella hard to DIY like the shape of the taillight and the color isn't much black out like it said. i've wasted $26 for it. if you really want to buy it i'd recommend you should let professional do it cuz those film are very sticky and it could ruin if you dont know what you are doing.

My 2 Cents:
I recently bought these overlays, and its definitely not a DIY, at least not for me. Unfortunately the mailman left my package sitting next to the sprinkler, so when I went to pull the overlays out, one of them ripped. I emailed the seller, and he sent me a replacement overlay for free. At that point I also ordered the overlay for the 3rd brake light since it didn't come with the kit. I'm having my tint shop put them on this coming week. He's charging me 50 to install since they are tricky. He would have charged me about 175 to do them with his film. I think I got a good deal.

In conclusion, if you are having them installed professionally, go for it. The film is good quality and they are pre-cut, which saves time and is less of a hassle. If you are DIY, then I suggest going for a spray job, or cutting your own if you're a risk taker. As far as the color of the tint goes, its just enough to get the look I want, without it screaming "Pull me over!"
