C-Class SMOKED Tail Lights - All you want to know
I saw a post about some spray to smoke the tail lights, I forgot where. Also is it really possible to peel off the product from the lights after you get bored of them? do they look like new after you peel off the product?
Me and a few friends were talkign about this kind of products last afternoon and I told them about this product, and they asked me for info about it...

i've heard of what you're talking about. It comes off with rubbing alcohol or something like that. I don't know the name of the product though. I'll ask one of my friends what it's called.

its called a film spray...
they are SUPPOSE to spray right on without anything else...
and peel right off when you dont want them anymore...
it might not be as easy as that though...
BrabusCClass has done it to his car... you might want to contact him... theres a shop near me that sells them for like $19 a bottle...
i think... not so sure on the price but they have several brands available...

smoked looks good
calvin, that is a sweet picture....Looks like a scene from a mob movie...
i was wondering why MBZ didn't go with the smoked tail lights. The W202's were smoked....
BrabusC told me a while back that it was fairly simple to do. I guess you just take apart the plastic bolts in the trunk, then you can access the taillights to remove them.

that picture was taken during the LA GTG back in march.
we were on the PCH heading towards Malibu for lunch...
i think its fairly simple but i am afraid of the quality... i saw that
BrabusCClass's were kinda "peeling" off at the edges...
anyways, i wouldnt mind giving them a try since they are temporary and reversible...
i think if it starts peeling off at the edges, i'll just peel it all off and
spray it on again... one bottle should last me a couple of repetitions.
good luck for all those that are planning on giving this product a try....
and make sure you post pics when you are done!!!

WOW. Nice pics. I've never seen those. Post more, post more. Hehe. Yeah it comes off easy as long as you put enough on. The first time I did not clean the lense well enough and there was a haze so i removed it. I didnt put a lot of coats and well, it was hard and annoying. I just rubbed it off. So the second time I used basically the whole little can. It was around $30 and I bought it in a shop inside Yohans in downtown LA. Yes the corners is peeling, lol. When they buffed my car with the buffer it went over the lense on the corner and lifted it right off. LOL. Im going to spray it over soon.

hm...
Is there any palce I can order the product online? (The remobable one)
yes I do have the coupe, and I think it would actually look pretty good in the black/red or Blue coupe, just smoke the tail lights, if you like it, keep it, if ot just remove the paint, thats why I want the removable one.

Those pictures were taken at a Los Angeles get together on March 31st (I believe). We met near the Staples Center and then drove down to PCH for lunch. It was a pretty good turnout, over 30 cars.

Silver_Lana: Hehe. My car gleams because it has so much wax on it. Its basically a lot of Meguairs products. Meguairs is our offical sponsor for events and we always use their products for all the shows I do. I just love how black cars get a good shine when clean.
Vince: I believe its on 3rd and Alameda. Its a shopping mall, type building called Yohans. If you park on the second or third floor there is a bridge to the building. Right after you go in its on your right hand side. I believe the 2nd store.
Xeon: There is another meet coming up in May. Try to make it for that one. Its a lot of fun.

actually, i thought brabus sprayed the red parts too. it looks like it in the pic to me. his comment about peeling from the corner (and you can see the the bottom right corner is lighter) implies that the whole tail light housing was sprayed.
the vw that ajchen did is a film?, i believe, and it covers the whole taillight - including the red parts. that looks very good to me. it also has a glossy look to match the paint gloss.

Smoking Out Rear Lights?
I was wondering if its a good idea to smoke out the rear, clear lights on the back of my Black 2002 C-Class. These lights are for the indicators and I know alot of old C's come standard that way and was wondering if anyone has smoked the rear themselves. How much would it cost...THANKS:p
Black C-Class, 2002, tinted windows, hoping to: lower it with H&R springs, black out grill, get poweder coated SSR GT1 rims

This is if you are up to it. If you want to do it yourself you should take 'em off first. You want to open it up with a heat gun. Paint it form the inside because it looks cleaner that way. Go to a Hobby store and ask for a transparent blk or smoke spraypaint.
Just spray away. It's a pain in the *** to take apart. Or you could do it a lazy way and just paint it w/o opening the taillight up, but get clear coat if this is the case.
I've heard that some body shop are able to do this by just painting it themselves. You would have to go to a shop and get a quote.
Also... SSR GT1 ... those are nice... GT3 are nice also.
