I usually hate smoked taillights...but those are the cleanest set I've ever seen. They actually look like they were designed to go with the original design of the car.
Good job. I'm impressed.

There's a DIY from a few years ago where a bunch of people smoked their tails. It looks sharpest on black cars, but don't forget that it's illegal in many states in the U.S. I tinted mine to a much much darker shade of red and it looks great. Smoke my corners as well as the lenses over my mirrors to jet black.

I have never liked the film but to each his own Tinting the tails is painless as long as you have a steady hand. If you over apply, then you have to wet sand it down etc...... It really isn't as difficult as some people make it sound. Hardest part is probably making sure you tape off the clear sections etc, unless you want to tint those sections only.

I know Florida is one, because I have been in my buddy's 335 when he was getting a ticket for his tails being completely smoked. It's a safety thing because when you smoke it, the lenses don't reflect nearly as much light.... someone who is an attorney will have to chime in on this one perhaps, but I would guess that it's in the same line as vehicle height requirements, etc

on the topic of smoked taillights, i recently tinted mine with vht nite shades spray and its really really dark. the light from the bulbs dont really shine through very well. instead of lightening the tint by wetsanding some of it off, can i possibly get brighter bulbs that'll better penetrate the tint?
